Electric or Acoustic? I play electric and if my job comes through I will be working in Baden and we could hook up. I am really hoping that I don't have to stop playing just because I leave the US.

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

Iv just started back up again, had to dust off about 3yeârs worth of dust from my guitar but Its all coming back to me again now.
We just have to make sure we find a big enough flat to play in ...
and possibly invest in some sound proofing HaHa

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

Right, this looks like a good time to raise the "lets have a Zurich Open Mic night" conversation again.

I'm not local enough to really devote the time to finding somewhere amenable to a night of people with noisy guitars invading their hostelry (and admittedly guaranteeing them some revenue on a quiet evening, ideally) - but I remember thinking Zuri Bar on Niederdorf looked like the sort of place that *might* be interested...anyone willing to do a recce and ask?

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

I dont do nun of dat new-fangled electric stuff. Which is a shame because my Mesa Boogie is looking at me in a funny way having been jilted for an AER Acousticube. Low-down fingerpickin blues is the only way to go boys.

Well, this reply is about a year late, but I also play guitar and would love to play. I live in Baden, near Zurich and only have an acoustic over here, which I just bought. Anyways, thought I'd let those guitar players out there know that we should all get together in Zurich sometime.

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

Hey Nev,
Sure, anyone can sing along...I can sort-of sing, but I would love to meet some real singers as well...for that matter, any musicians who can play some sort of a jam instrument--or people who just like to hang out near the lake and listen to music.

I'd be in for a recon of an open mic. place...or we could just create our own open mic setting by the river or lake...although I don't have any equipment except for my guitar.

Hey, they count in my book. Never heard a Euphonium and an acoustic guitar together, but you never know--could be the next big thing.

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

Can I bring my Guitar Hero III?

Do you play acoustics or electric?
Lead or backup?
Metallica or Steve Vai?

No band here, so I did not buy any electric guitar.

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

Sure, bring Guitar Hero III. I play acoustic (because that is all I own here) mostly back-up and fingerpicking but some lead. Out of the Steve Vai and Metallica choice I'd have to say Metallica as I am going to see them in Zurich in August. Anyone else going?

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

I'd be curious to know the details of that story...I think. Well, I'm not saying it has to be performance quality...that is the good part of acoustic guitars--not so loud that people can hear when the quality of play isn't so loud. But, you are right...drinking, at least heavy drinking and public guitar playing might not always be the best.

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

I saw a pop band using a Euphonium instead of a bass. It was fantastic.

Re: [Zurich]Anyone can play guitar...

To all the guitar-sluts (acoustic, electric or otherwise)... let's keep this thing alive. Might as well take the chance to have you meet some interesting planks (Nik Huber, Ruokangas, Saul Koll, Kim Soloway) you'll probably never see in any kind of "normal" store (whatever that means to you).
