City/Town: Zurich (Oerlikon)
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Dapur Indonesia

Amigos (friends), after much talk, it's here.

Rijsttafel at Dapur Indonesia!
SUBSCRIPTION LIMIT: 20 PEOPLE (restaurant cannot handle a bigger group)

Say what????
An 11-course meal for every participant, with all the following yummy foods included:

Beef Rendang
Chicken Sate ayam
Duck Bebek
Prawn Udang Kemiri
Fish Gurame
Kanghung (Water Spinach)
Tofu
Bala (Vegi Cake)
Martabale

Chicken Ayam Rice

As you can see, a wide variety of choice - meat, fish, veggies, seafood, etc. to please everyone. Plus a coffee at the end (included in the price).

Where?
Dapur Indonesia
Schaffhauserstr. 373
8050 Zürich - Oerlikon
http://dapur-indonesia.ch/

Price?
69CHF per person inclusive of the coffee at the end but exclusive of the drinks during the meal.

What do you need to do?
This is a special menu that the chef is cooking just for us upon request. This means that, a couple of days prior to the dinner, we need to close the RSVP and call the chef to confirm the exact number of attendees. This also means that we will need a CHF 30 deposit from you if you decide to attend, no later than Thursday, November 24 to secure your spot. No deposit, no party - sorry. You will then pay your balance (CHF 39 plus the drinks) on the day of the dinner, directly to the restaurant.

Deposit collection
There are a few ways that you can pay your deposit:
1. Directly to me at the German Conversation Group on either of the following Wednesdays from now till the event: Nov. 9 or 23.
2. Directly to me at this lunch event in Zurich.
3. If you can't make either option, please PM me or forum member gourmet to arrange a mutually convenient time/place.
4. I cannot guarantee (depending on work commitments), but one of us or both might also be at the Viadukt some/all Thursdays this month. We will update this thread if that's the case.

What else?
I know it is quite a bit of money, however, I invite you all to read this thread for some raving reviews of the place. I cannot say enough how much I love this restaurant, both for the food and the outstanding service.

I hope many of you will make it!

I'll happily exchange my veggies with your meat

Except for aubergine, which I am addicted to, but I will have to restrain myself. Salivating...

Girls, due to stress, nasty cold & nasty back, I am either confined to bed or confined to short fusing at work in the next days. I can't make it to Zürich. I need an alternative for the payment.

Re: A Taste of Indonesia - Dinner in Zurich SPECIAL EDITION

for anyone that need direction... there is a car park nearly just opposite the restaurant or one by the Swiss hotel.

The restaurant is on the south side of the Banhof by tram track 14/10, so face Swiss Hotel, then turn left, all the way with banhof next to you; then when you see tram track (corner of a car showroom and opposite a "Do it yourself" garage), turn right. Dapur has got an umbrella over their front door and is right next to a computer place.

Hopefully this is clear enough direction!

@PG, no worries about deposit, you are good and just give it to me when I see you next! I hope soon and before the meal!

Do you know why my "eat for CHF 25 or less per week" challenge fails? Because I love food too much (and eating out). Muahahahaha - evil laugh

Re: A Taste of Indonesia - Dinner in Zurich SPECIAL EDITION

LOL? 25 CHF a week? Unless I start eating tasteless, health endangering sandwiches every lunch, no way I can do it. Cheapest I can get in migros (even with just salad) is 10.50 per DAY!

I will spare on everything - clothes, transportation, travelling, books even... *gasp* computer games - but I won't spare on food

My pet name is not Krümelmonster for no reason! :P

CHF 25 was inspired by someone who posted on the Forum that he and his wife were going to try and eat for CHF 50 per person (3 meals a day) for a week. I thought why not, I can do it - I ran some numbers and I think I can make it work, except that I would have to cook my own food, bring lunches to work, and eat at home everyday in the evening. Problem is: not possible. I eat out far more times than I eat at home, there's nothing I can do about it, and so it's impossible for me to do this. I have too unpredictable hours, and I like to try new restaurants too much!!!
