great and i would love to come but where is engelberg? I live in Zug so does it make sense for me to join? I will also need a bit of training as I just bought the board and had only 3 lessons which as you know is nothing so so far I mostly crash or sit anyway if this is not a problem it would be terrific if I could join professionals |

not too bad with the distance if you live in Luzern but I live across the lake so it's a bit far... think I will stick to Rigi for the start |

Engelberg has much better skiing than Rigi. Get on that train and enjoy the day. | | This user would like to thank olygirl for this useful post:

Hi
Engelberg is definitely not far from Zug and is probably the best resort in the local area. If you haven't been there before I would recommend you visit it with us. You'll certainly be welcome and I'm sure you'll enjoy the day | | This user would like to thank Gully for this useful post:

Is that possible to rent the Ski equipment there? If so, how much it costs for a day?
Thanks!

The two closest to the main lift are Stoeckli, at CHF46 for board and boots, and titlis sport (in the lift station itself) which surprises me by being more expensive at chf58.50. Four seasons is also quite close by at chf48. Internet booking sites may be able to get them at better discounts.
Edit: Sorry, thought I was replying to the boarder earlier in the thread. Check the links for ski prices.

I checked the google maps of course but it looked far from me. I will give it a try then. How do I get there by train? I can check it myself but first - im lazy:P and second - people who travel there and know the place are usually better informed.
Will you all go there by train or is anyone driving? Any free shotgun sits? |

I will be driving down from Bremgarten (so I go past Zug on the motorway). Maybe we can arrange an easy meeting point if you would like a lift.

I'm beginner snowboarder, have all the gear just need to master standing up for more than 5 seconds now! Went to flumserburg last weekend and got back on ski's, not a good idea! as beginner on those too, but just seems easier...so that didnt help, but determined to learn board now, plus i brought one..
If it's ok for beginners to join aswell?? then think a few of us might tag along, from zug area also. We'll be happy meeting at engelberg to say initial hello, then have a lesson or practice on kids slopes for day, then meet everyone in afternoon for apres and quick beer before heading back...

I am considering most likely to come by train if i make it. Is there anyone going via Zurich HB or Luzern HB that I could share a car with that can manage skis being transported

First- and second-hand experience is all good. Mention that it's a recommendation from Bruce at Prime Ski School - local connections always a good thing | | This user would like to thank Ace1 for this useful post:

Can anyone reccomend a guest house/ hotel. Since I would head in from Basel, I would quite like to get there the night before.

Hi All
I've posted an update on the group page (see Community - Social Groups - Skiing and Snowboarding in Switzerland). This includes my contact details that you can take to get in touch if we get split up or you arrive late.
Please keep checking back to the group page throughout the week for further updates.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on Saturday
Thanks

You can try www.engelberg.ch. You can set the website to English and look under the accomodation section. Otherwise, try calling the tourist office in Engelberg: +41 41 639 77 77 and tell them what you are after. I'm sure they'll be happy to help.
Good luck.

we went on saturday. visibility was a bit of an issue up top, but cleared up on the long red/blue down to the bottom. all-in-all, had a top laugh and would recommend it. definitely lots of snow.
keen to go back, and if i do this weekend, i will be driving from basel (1.5hr drive). free to give lifts. will update mid-week.
we got there at about 9am on saturday, and the lifts to the top (to Stand) took almost as long as the drive there....so any ideas on when best to get there ?
