I have booked the tables, one for 12 and also the one next to it for 9 people.

What a turnout! Excellent, Thank you every one, I hope now that the Bern members will continue to socialise! Every one says it is too quiet in Bern, I hope we now have the confidence to organise other events during the month.

The restaurant is next to the "Heilsarmee", "Armee Salut", "Salvation Army" shop, a few doors along from the Starbucks café.

Hi all,

Once again, it was great to see some familiar faces and meet some new people.

After some discussion down on our end of the table (the Scottish-Canadian-and-American end) on the topic of baked goods, I proposed a social gathering where everyone brings homemade baked goods for all to enjoy. Would anyone else be interested in such an event in the next month or so?

Well, fourteen of us braved the bitterly cold weather tonight, and we all agreed the food was excellent. I had a Chinese chicken corn soup, a beef satay main course and 1 litre of beer. My bill came to CHF 39,-- which I thought was very reasonable.

Next month we are going for a Mexican.

Definitely a good idea Pete. Can we do this outside when it's warmer, or do we need to look for a room?

As Sarah and I are from right near the US-Mexico border and have been missing Mexican food quite a bit, we'll be there.

As for the baked goods schedule, we're available whenever. Our apartment is reasonably convenient to the city (we're right at the Bumpiz Sud station) and has enough room/seats for maybe 8-10 guests. We'd be happy to host, though we only have one oven so it may be best if people bake stuff prior to coming (though people are welcome to cook here if they wish).

As most of you work, or are studying hard, can we assume the bakers would need a few hours to prepare and bake their food? Would you like to organise something on a weekend, to give people time to shop and do their own cooking? Maybe they should also bring their own wine or beer. Isn't this called a "Pot Luck Dinner"

I am also going to offer my place as a possible venue, we have quite a lot of room (I have cooked for 14 before and it worked

) and it's in the city.
I think a weekend is a good idea, perhaps a Sunday?

Yes, it was nice to meet everyone yesterday! The baking idea sounds fun only no idea what I could bake. I would also prefer to do it over the weekend.
