Is the Chinese embassy here organizing anything for the Chinese New Year for expats? I don't see anything from their web site.

If not, are there any groups here that organize CNY events as a tradition?

Well, I probably can try. I was hoping for a potluck so that people here get to have a chance to test out authentic Chinese food. But I live in Bern and assume most people don't want to travel to a small town just for an event. Hum....

Potluck seems like a good idea. We have many members living / working in Bern, not to mention heaps more willing to travel to Bern for an authentic Chinese meal.

You will be surprised to discover how far members on here travel just to get their fix of KFC!

O...k. Now it's a question of where I can find an empty space that we can use to eat and drink and chat. Maybe I should check with some people who organize events frequently for a tip----apparently I've never organized anything for a bunch of strangers before. It is easier to find a place when I can guarantee a given amount of show-ups and these people will drink and eat from the place. Now that we are bringing our own food, it's a bit tricky.....
