City/Town: Zürich
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: Schaffhauserstrasse 491 8052 Zürich

Dear All,

We are small community of family oriented churchgoers (adults with kids of various age groups) who worship and praise the Lord during our Sunday service within our modest English speaking expats community that is growing on regular basis (we try to get to know more people and encourage them to come join us in regular service). We would like to invite you to our service and have lunch after. Some of you might even already know each other. It is very relaxed community with music, choir singing, sermons, communion in English and get together after the service for a meal, children playground.

We also have bible study, choir singing practice and school for children, women meeting, social events and many more. Although an official language spoken amongst us is English but we also welcome everyone for whom we may have translators speaking French and German or Schwiizerdütsch.

More detailed info you can find in the link: Schaffhauser Strasse. (2 min from Oerlikon).

Come join us and have fun - I promise you won't regret it

God Bless,

TFOGC

Re: The Fountain of Grace Church

If I am in town (still pending at the moment), I would like to join you once for a service.

I enjoy praying with different people of different religious backgrounds.

Hope I can make it.

It would be great brethren if you could make it. Although I'm a mountain person and would love to go skiing over the weekend, my New Year's resolution has been made and Sunday is time to rejoice in presence of God.

Is this Fountain of Grace Church Catholic or Protestant (Evangelic-Reformed, Lutheran, Baptist, Anglican, Scottish, Methodist) ?

Re: The Fountain of Grace Church

All that matters is that we worship the same God and we read from NKJV in Christian atmosphere appealing to everyone. I would classify it closer to Pentecostal.

Everyone is welcome to join at the service and for get-together after ... More the merrier

The usual term is non-denominational. All the listed denominations ascribe to the Nicean creed. Where they differ the most is in structure.

We are not creating here new denomination with (or without papal consent) but rather try to please the taste of our expat members with new concepts always welcome how to improve. The idea is to encourage more folks to attend the service in our although small yet still growing community.

BTW: I know it might not sound as exciting as night out in the club type of social event with drinks or pub-quiz but I gather there are also some kind souls on this forum to whom this kind of event might appeal

Hey Jacek
Sounds like you might be interested in our monthly English service. It's on Sunday evenings, so a great way to end a weekend in the mountains.

I appreciate that. Just that in continental Europe, there is far more suspicion of churches that aren't established denominations than in the UK. Hey, in France even the Baptists are considered a sect.

And of course we (as church members) are not a sect sending leaflets around or come inside the building knocking at the private inhabitant's door. It wouldn't even cross my mind to drag anyone to the church. It is just your own will and sometimes you might even discover you may like it. You never know. For me I find it spiritually gratifying and as an escape from mundane and grey daily life, I can pray for better tomorrow, prosperity and etc... And of yourse it is healthy and inexpesnive way to socialize after

Baptists in Zürich were (are) considered a sect ! Mr Zwingli gave order to have them all drowned in the Limmat. This practice only got terminated much later by Mr Breitinger (therefore the Breitingerstrasse in Zürich-Enge )

Well, we were small group today indeed as some people are still on holidays and our choir members and piansist are on a tour The service was great nonetheless and we had get together right after. The weather outside was awesome for this time of the year so no excuses not to come. I will try to organize such event every weekend so that we can have regular EF's group hopefully. Looking forward to more RSVP's. Have a good weekend and God bless!

I was there. But two hours is far too long for me. There are some chaps with excellent voices, and the "Afrfican" way to do such a service is less boring than the usual stuff. The building however is not really inviting, but the decoration inside the place is alright

But just a side-question: how do you finance the whole thing ? I mean, the office space must cost thousands CHF per month and the technical equipment looks expensive.

Thanks for coming Wollie - we were there after 12h00 and must have missed each other. Anyway, part of the chorus was not present last Sunday so normally it even gets better with the whole crowd. They also practice once a week to improve their voices. We pay monthly rent and there are other congregations who hire this venue as well and we both split the expenses. During the week it stays practically empty and it is a shame it is not used for other useful purpose e.g. functions or seminars. I already posted it at Conference venue for rent! and hope to find some interested people with ideas on the EF.

Part of the equipment belongs to the place and piano, drums, guitar with other stuff is ours. We also decorated the place to add a lively touch to create welcome atmosphere.

You might get in touch with the Quartierverein Seebach
http://www.zuerich-seebach.ch/ who might be interested
and with the Football Club Seebach
http://www.svseebach.ch/
and, as this is Switzerland, the Shooting Association of Seebach
http://www.sgseebach.ch/
-- one of them might not be too lucky with the place where they usually are, and might join forces

Another aspect of course is that the hints to how reach the place should be changed from Seebacherplatz to Tramendstation-Seebach, which is far closer !

Re: The Fountain of Grace Church

Dear all, I needed to check back here to update the dates. Apparently there will be a conference hosted in the venue. Therefore had to shift the service times to 10h30 till 12h00. Those of you who have already commited, hopefully you can still make it. Looking forward to seeing you all up in the church.

Re: The Fountain of Grace Church

I apologize, but I had to cancel my participation on a short note. If it is a case in the future please follow the sign inside the building to the second floor and head towards the music that you will be able to hear as soon as you left the lift. There will always be somebody to greet you and introduce to the congregation. Enjoy the service

P.S. I will keep on posting this event every weekend so that there is no loss of participation.
