Following a lively discussion in January on living in a country when your cultural background is foreign, this month's book club continues the theme.

Playing Cards in Cairo by Hugh Miles (this month's book)(thanks for correction Flamelily ) tells of an English journalist in Cairo who unusually ends up becoming part of a group of mainly Egyptian women who secretively meet up for endless nights of card-playing and chat.

As the hint had been given that some of us wanted to re-visit the classics we'd read in school (aaah, the good old days!), the book set for the month after is Charlotte Bronte's Villette.(provisionally 19 March)

It would be great if you brought along some suggestions next time so we can pick books for the months after.
