Pub Quiz

We are ready to go, looks like we'll have more than 20 people. The more, the merrier.

There are the usual pub quiz themes, like current news, seasonal themes, puzzles and creativity. This time there are some pictures and something tactile. There will be quiz money, so you can buy and sell answers.

If possible please be ready to start well before 19:00 so we can have prize giving before the disco starts at 21:00. 18:00 arrival would be perfect as that's when the happy hour starts.

Final reminder, all set to go from 18:00 Friday in the Lady Hamilton. Looks like we will have about 30 people.

If anyone can bring a camera there will be photo opportunities...

I'll wear a black Prague pub crawl t-shirt, with lots of paperwork on the table and bags of goodies nearby. Probably at the back of the pub, at the edge of a big seating area where people can get to me for bribes etc. Plan to be there from around 17:30. Might be drinking mineral water at first

Sounds like fun. Are the teams already organised or do we sort that out when we get there?

Right now I have likely attendees on post it notes and will draft some ideas of who'd go well together (to get balanced teams, mixed CH/English speaking, compatible) while waiting for people to turn up.

Basically it just happens on the night, either you find a nice group and make a team or I'll bring people together. Believe it or not, it works. The earlier you turn up, the more choice you have. I'll be there before 6 if you'd like to turn up early and discuss more how it works.

Just a thought, is this going to be in english?? I know it's on the english forum but it doesn't actually say anywhere and it does say that a swiss person increases chances of winning -which would definitely be the case if it was in german and they were translating!

Yes, everything is in English. A Swiss-only team would have some language difficulties.

Many questions have a local focus, for example interesting stuff from 20 Minuten or some local general knowledge. An English-only team wouldn't be able to get these questions.

Lady Hamiltons eh ? I didnt think Ive ever been in that place before midnight, and thought it was simply the preamble before a deep-down-and-dirty night in the Nelson.

The idea of a group of people exercising their intellect in such surroundings is somewhat at odds with the venue.

You are in for a pleasant surprise I think. I've done a pub quiz there before and it worked well. From 6 until 8 or so it's not bad for quizzing, more your office types having a swifty before home time. Disco starts at 9:00.

It will get loud and lively later, as you note, but by then we'll have done the intellectual part.

Yes, they have happy hour 18:00 - 20:00, I think on Fridays too.

Sorry to cancel, I was in Risk Management training all afternoon and that was meant to finish at 17.15, which it most certainly didn't. Plus, I fell down the stairs on Tuesday and am still feeling the after-effects...

Sorry, although it's now too late to offer my appalogies in any case, I am afraid I can't make it down to Hamiltons tonight. It will continue my unbroken run of not being in there at a reasonable hour...
