Australia Day 2012

Reading on Facebook all the plans that mates back home are making for this weekend. JJJ hottest 100 countdown.... Got to make you a tad homesick....

Would be great to be around some Aussie larrakins this weekend but where are they all hiding ???

Any plans ? or more to the point, does anyone give a rats.....

Re: Australia Day 2012

Plenty of us around, we are just too lazy to organise anything!! I am trying to get a leave pass for Thursday so far it looks like Oliver Twist might do something or we can drink with the cheese eating Poms at the Viaduct because it is Thursday.
The Outback lodge is a joke the couple of times i have called in on Australia day, Aussie Pub baahh take away the menu cards it could be any Swiss local.

So where are we going?

Re: Australia Day 2012

I think i'll head to the twist. Plenty of good aussie spirit there.

Agree about the outback pub. not worth it. I mean where's the sweet chilli sauce with the wedges!! Only reason i drop in there at all is for some of the aussie beers they serve up at reasonable prices (comparatively speaking).

Yeah the twist sounds like the best option ay. I was in there last year for ANZAC day. Top night all round.......

Re: Australia Day 2012

Looks like both are doing an Australia day party but we will be going to Oliver Twist.
Sorry Outback Lodge, you are a joke, 30 Chuff hamburgers and Fosters don't cut the mustard and maybe, just maybe something in English on your website, even a PDF menu? I now know how the Swiss feel when they see copy watches!! Rant over.
See you there.

Re: Australia Day 2012

we Aussies know how to have a good time where ever we are - found fireworks left over from nye - will have more than a vegemite sandwich - French do make good champagne - is that ok? - enjoy

As mentioned above, the Outback Lodge is a disgrace.

PARIS Hilton would be 'French' before the Outback lodge is Australian. I recommend a boycott on that place.

The Oliver Twist puts on the best Australia Day event that Zurich has to offer.

Brendan runs the show and is an Aussie.

Details for where to find the twist are in this thread:

Re: Australia Day 2012

Feels outrageous and daring to say this in Switzerland, but here goes:

'Oi, Oi, Oi'

and here's a treat for you Aussies, did you know there are at least 18 definitions of the word 'Mate'.

A happy Australia Day to my old friends Down Under. I'll be back for a visit some day! I guess I should spend the day streaming JJJ.

Re: Australia Day 2012

Happy Australia day all!

I'm listening to the top 20 of the hottest 100 over coffee and pondering what to make for dinner (I'm thinking lamb, I won't make husband cook it on the bbq )

I always feel stupidly homesick on Australia day.
