Anybody remember this?

First Film Making Meetup

I have invested some serious time, energy and money in my home studio and music composition skills, new equipment etc and I am looking to write a film score (or have a go ) or at least part of one. I have time, energy and good organisational skills, but sadly I cannot do this alone.

So, is anybody up for a second attempt at making a film?

If I get a good response we can do a doodle to work out a time when we can get together and discuss it.

I am near Lausanne, so logistics would be tough.

I am an animator / SFX jockey by trade, mainly using Maya, AFX, Nuke, FCP - that kind of stuff. Worked on a Harry Potter, Disney channel, C4, CNN.

Oh, and I have a short film script and know a very good editor.

I have a GA and some free days so travel to Lausanne is no issue for me.
It sounds like you are the kinda of guy we need to have on board, I'm not familiar with the products you mention as my head is in the musical world, but it sounds impressive as does your experience.

Let's see who else we can get, because this is something I really want to do this year. Some other people have sent me PMs so there is interest.

We are up to 5 people so far judging by the PMs that I'm getting. Could do with a few more ideally. We also have 2 potential film scripts/ideas, so come on people, let's hear from some budding actors/actresses and then get together for a meeting.

I could be interested. I have done a ton of writing in the past, only published work was short stories and music journalism. But it's something I always wanted to do. I really capable of find cheap props. Normally. But could be interested in the right project. I can travel a bit within the country.

Hi - I'm quite interested in this. I moved to Switzerland recently - I actually joined this forum today to take part in the self employment discussion. It was great to find this thread.

I have some kit (edit suite, - cameras - an old DSR-570, as well as a couple of Z1s - and a couple of redheads) experience in TV (behind the camera and in front) and like the idea of working on a no-budget film - it forces creativity to the fore.

I'm based in Vaud if that helps. Out of interest - how successful was the last attempt?

I'm in Vaud too...so it seems we have a makings of a crew!

Hi, this is picking up momentum now, thanks to everybody who sent me a PM - I will reply to all of you. Look forward to setting up some meetings to discuss this project(s). Still need some more people though so please encourage other EFers to join our ranks.

Well I wrote some music that was never heard. There was a video shoot of one of the scenes and some other shoots planned, before unfortunately it fell apart. We had a script, props, costumes and actors, plus people ready to help with editing/music etc from what I remember.

We're up to about 12 interested people now, including people with (some) experience and all the equipment that we need. A couple more people would be great - especially actors/actresses. I will see what other responses I get over the weekend and then try to set up a meeting.

Hi Nigelr, I was a member of a film making group back in Dublin before I moved here. I'd certainly be interested in getting involved but I'm in Basel so logistics might be an issue, however where there's a will there's a relative as we say. Ever since my involvement in community theater and creative writing classes, I've always fancied myself as a screen writer or a director. I'd be impossible to work with though.

Excellent, impossible to work with is expected for director types :-)

I've done a little bit of community theatre and might be interested in a little acting... I do have to ask tho.. is there any nudity involved?

Of course, it is expected in low budget movies :-)
