You are all absolutely welcome to join the Friday night Bar Evaluation Committee, which will start at 8pm.

Gabriela and I have conducted a pre-evaluation of the Boos Lounge and it seems like a worthy place to start. Boos Lounge does not have Rooboistee, but it does sell big beers, which I know is important to some people.

Let's meet at Boos between 8pm and 930pm, then we'll make a tour of the other places that have been suggested.

As enthusiastic a committee member as i hope to become, i have to skip it this week. I'll be investigating a number of bars in London this weekend.

Just a quick note on the Boos lounge. Having been there once on a Friday with a colleague, we got teh faint impression that it was a gay bar. Not that this was an issue for us, however they may not appreciate 20-40 english people crashing.

This is not confirmed by any means, but I would say I was 90% sure

Nah its not a gay bar (Electric Six anyone ?), anyway nothing wrong with doubling your chances. Its not very spacious though, and as well as being very smoky they often have a DJ playing his favourite spins. I lurve it as you can get down and play funky.

I too will be keen to investigate the odd bar or two in Zurich, but alas I am following Daniel's lead and heading outside Switzerland for a week or two. Will be keen to read the reviews ... what will be the criteria?

In that case, I request that you to make a new version of your avatar, except instead of scaring an approaching car, you should scare the Swiss Centre in Leicester Square!

Well, there aren't many, but some would be:

- Easy to find, or relatively central (not everyone is familar with Züri)
- Not ear splitting loud, so that conversations are possible (although I just read that boos has a DJ, let's hope not too loud too early)
- Spacious, as there are sometimes many of us, and also not many are smokers, so we wouldn't want to be in a smoky bar.
- Should have large beers, but not just in weissbier form
- Should have Rooibostee (for me, and I make the rules )
- Food/snacks is an advantage
- Late opening is an advantage
- Price of drinks

Mostly, it'll be based on how we feel. Since this is a difficult thing to decide upon, it could be that we'll just have to keep going, week in, week out, until we've been everywhere.

I'm a Rooibos tea addict. I don't drink beer very much, but a few guys were miffed that Münz only sells beer in small glasses.

I was especially miffed that they had beer on tap, yet refused to pour it into larger glasses, serving only small (0.3l) servings instead. They would only serve the Weizen (wheat) beer in the larger glasses. Insanity... There was no technical reason just "policy"
