| | | Lausanne Book Club
One thing I miss from England is my monthly book club... so I wondered whether anyone would be interested in monthly book chats over coffee in Lausanne?
We can discuss the format... but I would suggest that we take it in turns to set a book and then meet monthly to chat about that month's book! I am kindled so not that in the loop about how hard it is to get english language novels in CH (it may be that we need to set two months books in advance so that copies can be shared?)
Anyway... let me know if you are interested and I'll set wheels in motion!

I would definitely be interested, but would prefer to chat about the book over a glass of wine! I'm in Paudex and also have a kindle, so book choices shouldn't be too hard to procure.

Yes, not living in Lausanne yet, but keen to join a book club with wine!!! The book club i currently do tends to be more wine than book, but there is always a small mention of the book |

Rainbowstar, there is an English bookshop in central Lausanne (Books Books Books). They can help bookclubs who want to get hold of books in English quickly! They may even host a Book Club, but I am not entirely sure...

Just so you you guys know, Books, Books, Books has quit carrying fiction and other types of books. They had a massive sale when I was at Holmes Place about a month ago and I asked the, what happened. They said they would only carry textbooks and books for teaching english. They said because they was little demand for other books because of electronic access to books (and probably because of the extraordinarily high price of books here). Luckily I can still order from Amazon and have them shipped to my husband's US company who will ship them over here for free.

The extraordinarily overpriced books at Holmes Place made me laugh.Books that I normally order at Payot for 20fr were 40fr there.
eta - Morges club, asap, Im about to see Hanif Kureishi live at a writers festival,so would love to suggest anything by him to either Lausanne or Morges bookworms...oooh.

I'd definitely be happy to take part in a book club, as I'm a voracious reader!

I'd like to join, and could offer my place in central Lausanne by the metro as a possible venue...

I'm off on Mondays and Wednesdays during the week. Evenings are possible after 8 (time to nurse little one to sleep), except on Mondays (teaching French on Monday evenings).
I'm in Lutry, but can easily come to Lausanne either by bus or car.

Would also love to join you. I live in Lutry VERY close to the train station and just a 3-minute walk from the #9 bus, and can host if this becomes a "traveling" book club. Or I can meet in Lausanne. My only conflict is Wednesday evenings, when I am taking a French class. Thanks for taking the lead on this, rainbowstar.

I'm interested too but would prefer daytime or early evenings. An 8 pm start would be too late for me.
