| | | Games evening (Zurich)?
Is there anyone interested in playing some board games occasionally? I'm thinking of things like Die Siedler/Settlers of Catan, Aquire, Civilization (okay, maybe we could reserve an entire weekend if we want to play Civ ), Carcossanne (sp?), things like that.
We'd be happy to host a smallish "party", maybe provide some nibbles and so on.
If you might be interested please post something and let us know what games you could bring. I don't know what we have. Maybe we still have Acquire, I'm not sure. Does anyone have Junta ?

Wow, there's one at least. What a relief! Let's wait a couple of days and see if we get any more takers, if not we can always arrange to play three handed or something.

Good idea DeadLast! Me and my husband would be interested. We don't have a lot of board games though (Siedlers, Expedition, Backgammon, Monopoly). Do you live in Zürich?

@vertexx - yes, we are in Zurich. @Flutterby - I was just trying to judge the amount of interest. Seems quite small, but I think it would still be worth a little get together some time.
I will have a word with The Boss later and see when would be okay with her for people to come round. Will try and post an update this evening, but if there are any dates you lot already know you can't make then please post them.

| | | Re: Games evening (Zurich) - November 2008
We have now scheduled 2 options for the games evening in November:
18.11. or 25.11. via Doodle (a very simple tool to organise such "events), just copy the link to your browser: http://www.doodle.ch/fy74qaub3sqsitwt
Please send me a message with your e-mail afterwards (via this forum), otherwise I cannot provide the final time/ date and address (Seefeld).
It will be mixed German & International .... .. we will find a way to communicate

Heh. I've been a slacker haven't I?
Flutterby, do you already have a venue in mind? My significant other is out right now so I can't check with her what dates would be okay for people to come around here.

Sounds very good to me - I am certainly game.

Havent had much opportunity to play many games for a long time so would have to come as a beginner .....

I've love to join, that is if beginners are welcome? I haven't played games for quite some time, and am embarrassed to say I don't recognize some of the games mentioned here. But a games night sounds like a perfect evening to me.

If you are interested in getting together on the 18th or 25th of this month then I suggest signing up on Flutterby's doodlethingummyjig and we'll make that our first meeting. I signed up with my EF name so everyone would know who I am (if that makes any sense, since I've never met any of you), and added my +1 a couple of minutes ago.
Right now Sunday 25th is looking a definite possiblity and I've added that to the EF calendar wotchamacallit so that people can keep track (date and time not set in stone, we'll rely on the doodle site for that).

Ritchi, Bartholemew - of course you and anyone else are welcome, as beginners or otherwise! Why wouldn't you be? |

Lets see who will sign up in Doodle.
@ all participants: please send me a message, otherwise I cannot contact you for the final details (doodle does only register the name you enter yourself ... please do not use Santa Clause ).

Also note that Zürich has game clubs where people meet to play boardgames. I went once to the club in Wiedikon, and they were very nice. (I speak German so there was no opportunity to discover how good their English is.) They have an entire cabinet full of board games, and at least one of the regulars is the guy that runs Rien Ne Va Plus in Niederdorf (or is it Oberdorf?). There should be no shortage of new games to try.
If I remember correctly they meet every Wednesday at Zentralstrasse 34 starting at 19:30.
More from the page I wrote at the time I was looking for some D&D players: Spieltreff Spielerei, Rötelstr. 85, run by René Ritter on various days; Spiele-Club Zürich, GZ Loogarten, Salzweg 1, run by Christian Strübi every Tuesday; Spieltreff Tichuana, im “Kafi” des Gemeinschaftszentrums Schindlergut, Kronenstr. 12…

Thanks, Dead. I doodled-whatever-ed that I can't make the 25th, so looks like I'll join next time instead. Hope this becomes a regular event. | | | Games evening ZÜRICH 25th November
We are having our games evening the 25th, I will try to send around address and all other details this weekend.
There are 10 participants, not sure whether I can host so many people. Does anyone else have a bigger apartment? Otherwise we could split up the group into 2 x 5.
Cheers
Gina

Thanks for a great evening everyone, especially to Flutterby for stepping in to make sure my rubbish organisational skills weren't tested, Florian for hosting, and eejit for his Siedler expansion pack. I just turned up and had a good time
Hope to see more of you at the next one (sometime in January, or is that too ong?).
