Is there life outside Zürich? Occasionally we hear from people who claim to be "not local", and I think we Zürchers have the right to know.

I'd therefore like to invite anyone in or near Basel, to meet on Thursday evening this week.

I'm going to try and make it, as long as it's ok to bring along a house trained teenager as the babysitter (husband!) is away!

I'll be there, I am pretty sure, wither with or without husband - he returns from a business trip, so depends on how he feels if he makes it or not - if he does, we won't be early - he doesn't make it back from work until 6.20, so prob wouldn't make it til 7.30ish.... will be able to confirm closer to the day....he only left today, so I#ll have to wait til he checks in!!

In case you missed it in amongst all that drivel...I'll definitely come!!

A big thank you to DM for organising last night - I had a lot of fun meeting so many new people, and learning a few new places to drink.... will definitely be making my way back to Acqua for another look... as long as it is where I think I remember it is!!!

just wanted to say that i really enjoyed thursday evening.
so sad that i left the group for prepare for the presentation...

especially as long as i had a very bad (freudian ) slip of the tongue...
i wanted to say that (it was about gluelam) the diffrent wood-planks have to be put together 'cause not every tree has 12 meters...
well, and i said that not every man has 12 meters...

as you can imagine, the whole class was laughing out loud, and the couse instructor gave me an applause...
i have no idea what was going on in my head that i said man instead of tree.... ?!?
probably i better would have taken some more drinks the everning before....

Hi and (more) belated thanks to everyone who came along.

It was an enjoyable evening, with mepriana, basiliea, rhodemi, her son and two Brits who are brand new to Switzerland (hopefully they've signed up by now), stamp and her two friends, my friend Remi, ...anyone I missed?

We met for drinks at Non-Fumare, which was almost tricky because it was a sunny day and I'd said "let's meet in Non-Fumare". To be consistent, I decided to do exactly that. As I was waiting, I noticed that the outside section of Non-Fumare is also fumare. Duh. Fortunately, no-one seemed to get lost.

Next we went to an old bar in Barfüsserplatz and then to an old Restaurant. Despite claiming to be traditional, at least two of our party enjoyed the Tandoori Chicken. Erm...

Next Stop, the extremely groovy Acqua bar/restaurant. Lots of water features, cunning use of plumming, plus that all round Basel "artiness" that we so often miss in Zürich. Well worth a visit.

I'm hoping that the Basel contingent has been jump started into having meetings. I'll happily join if I'm free.
