City/Town: Zürich
Event Type: Dinner
Meeting Point: Bar Basso, Sihlstrasse 59

Well, whilst pondering the prospective places for our forthcoming popular A-Z dining event - namely `P`; I paused for a moment, if only to discount the more preposterous possibilities.
Praise the Lord, as a principle EF person, proudly possessing profound knowledge of Zürich`s most palatable restaurants, did by my pure luck propose a perfect place of unpretentious dining.
Pleased therefore as I am to curtail this pendantic, even perfunctory preamble - I am happy to announce that we are going all PIZZA.

Enough of that c**p - yes we have booked `the long table` at Bar BASSO, where they will serve us excellent PIZZAS.

As they can only fit a maximum of 5 pizzas in the oven at one time, we will choose 4 different toppings and get 4 servings of 5 pizzas per time.
More details of that later.

Just to say that the table is booked for 19:30 and has a limit of 22 people.
So unfortunately I will not be able to increase the numbers as I normally am.
RSVP'd Yes: 16 (13 members and 3 guests) RSVP'd Maybe: 3 (3 members and No guests)
  • coconut - if babysitter is available..
  • Halfasleep - may pop by later, keen to meet new people...
  • Occasional_Canadian - Have to move house that day, but will come if I can - would be nice to meet people. Also, pizza and beer is traditional moving food!
RSVP'd No: 6
  • Tim8803 - Damn, will probably be on holiday :-(
  • Phil_MCR - basher, are you trying to out-do the swiss in forward planning??
  • Dotty - Going to be in Manchester watching Stone Roses - gutted
  • nygnel - Unfortunately I am on vacation then...
  • gourmet - :(
  • c123
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

Is everyone on holiday on June 29th? At least this time we might be able to have a group conversation

I am so looking forward to this! I've heard good things about their pizza, and I am eager to try.

Cheers for organizing!

I suggest Baradox, literally right next door. I love this bar!

The Rimini Bar could be an alternative if the weather is nice, but we have to check tomorrow if there is any private event going on. Normally, on Friday it opens at 18:45.

We will have to meet at Baradox.

Rimini only opens from 6.45pm. My first idea was to organize a little "handmade" apero in the "Alter Botanischer Garten" but it closes at 7pm already.

I will be at Baradox from 6.15pm (I'm still having horns in case you look out for the group).

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

PIZZA... My lunch is now not very appealing at all . Would have loved to have come for some PIZZA, but have to go a BBQ at Greifensee. Wurst from the BBQ is good, but PIZZA is better.

OK, now to plot how to get some PIZZA this weekend...

Thank you, basher, for organising another wonderful evening out. And Zwissmiss for dealing with the pizza calculations.

The pizzas were fantastic; the company too, of course.
Lovely to meet more new faces!

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

Yes, thank you, basher, for organising the event!

The company was fun of course!
It's just too bad the portions were so small...
(And that one waitress kept stabbing me in the back with things as she was walking by, including the pointy end of a kitchen knife once)

Re: The A-Z of dining in Zürich

Sorry for the late reply...
This was a wonderful evening with wonderful food and even better company.

If some of you thought the portions were small please note we ate only 10 pizzas between 12 people... I thought the food quality and the service was top notch.
Thanks again Basher for organising and going even though you can't eat cheese!

Looking forwards to Q I hope it is on August 19th or 20th...
