I'm a Talackerphile, was a nice change of scene in Rossi, but not too practical for our usually swollen numbers.

If we are sticking with those two choices then Talaker is definitely the best option.
A friend of a friend owns the BARFLY'Z http://www.barflyz.ch/ and offered us some beer discounts if we fancied piling in there.

And yes, fear of Cata1yst also. | | | | | Hey it's Friday fun day, which means more smut than usual if that's possible!
Secondly own up what was posted (damn missed it!)
No need to be afraid of me I'm a little kitten really...
I'm off the smut for a while it's over-rated...

To put my outmoded idea 'out there', something relaxed, jazzy/piano bar style would be nice if there's anything around here fitting the bill?

And yes, fear of Cata1yst also. | | | | | Damn, I thought you had to invoke the name of the beast three times before he appeared.
I'm going to go against the grain here and vote for Rossi. Better beer, friendlier staff and a cheaper cab fair to get Natasha home... | | This user would like to thank Woodsie for this useful post:

Since the last event was my first one, I can't comment on Talacker. But the staff are definitely friendly at Rossi's. I went the following Friday and the owner recalled me from Wed and invited me to return Sat for their music night. The bartenders were very friendly too.

How about the News Bar? It's very central, easy to find, close to transport options, and has lots of potential for eye candy |

My vote goes to "Somewhere new" - I don't mind where really but a change is as good as a rest.
(mind you it would be cool to get some Polaroids up on the wall in Bar Rossi)

Please don't suggest the Splendid.
The Nachtflug (next to Blue Monkey) is pretty laid back.

Many bars are inconvenient to host groups of up to 40 people. They even say "No thanks".
Others require large deposits.
Hugh_Abu, if your mate of a mate is willing to hook us up with reduced prices, can manage a large group and the place is conducive to mingling, let's try Barfly'z. Restaurant style locations don't suit groups - we need to be able to mix it up a bit Wednesday 28th?

It amazing isn't it ? Quiet midweek periods when you think they would bite your hand off for the business.....

At time of writing, it seems split between familiarity and contempt.
I'm for Talacker on the grounds it's a well-known landmark now, people know where it is and the scale of the place is good for our groups.
Any news on the Barfly'z idea? C'mon folks, this is your mid-week drinks night
