City/Town: Engelberg
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Zurich/Luzern HBF

Anyone fancy joining me on the Rigidalstock Klettersteig next Saturday?

I will be taking the train at 08:04 from Zurich HBF, changing in Luzern - leaving there at 09:06.
Arriving in Engelberg at 09:53.

I will then take the cable cars to Ristis and then on to the Brunnihütte.
From here it is a relatively short distance to the start of the Klettersteig.
Unfortunately I am not in a good condition to do the whole hike up from Engelberg at the moment . . so that is how it must be.

The round trip from the Brunnihütte shoudl take around 5 hours - this can be longer depending on the number of other people on the same route.

You will need a helmet, harness and klettersteig kit.
This route is graded as KS3 - which means medium difficulty (from KSC1-6).
Please register if you want to join but be aware that if you turn up without the gear, then you will have to go alone.

Finally - it should be noted that I am NOT an instructor. I have experience and can help people with less experience - but you need to accept that I am not an instructor.

PM me for any further info - please ensure that you have registered by Friday lunchtime at the latest. The trip will only go ahead subject to weather conditions - therefore if you do register please check this event again later in the week!

Cheers,
Basher

If I didn't have another event happening, I would have considered joining you. For something social like this you might be better off with Fürenalp..it takes about 3 hours and there is a great lunch at the top...and for 11.50 chf you can take the gondola back down.

Thanks for that tip - I my well consider it - especially as I will be on my own.
To be honest I am a bit p**sed of generally - as from the last 3 events that I posted (social bike ride, visit to museum, klettersteig trip), which were all quite diverse - I only got one taker - for that we saw a great exhibition at the Landesmuseum today.
What upset me is this - I started a klettersteig group last year, with several peope joining the group - I organised several trip . . . no-one ever came.
So I threw the toys out of the pram and disbanded the group.
Now in the last 3 week I have read quite a few posts from different people all saying that if there was another trip - they would be interested.
So . . . . I organised another trip . . . . .apart from you, no response - not even an acknowledgement - where the f**k are these people?.
I have to say when you try to organise somethings and get not even a response - it become very disheartening - well, that`s it . . rant over I guess I am just feeling a bit down about it.
Tomorrow is gonna be good anyway and thanks for the tip mate.

No, no, please Basher don't give up and keep organizing events!!! I am only just now back in Zurich (literally, I entered my apartment 10 mins ago!), otherwise I would have joined you at the Landesmuseum today. My September weekend plans are all sc*ewed up (check your PMs) but tomorrow I am around. So if you change your Klettersteig plans due to this awful rain, and/or afterwards you feel like a drink or a bite, give me a shout! Your height-phobia-ridden EF buddy BokerTov

I would have loved to join if I had seen this in time

What about via Diavolo next Sunday? I am a beginner and it is supposed to be an easy initiation.

I might suggest that you think about a little more notice - most people have at least vague ideas about what they'll be doing over the following weekend, so posting about it a week earlier may get a much better response.

Not from me though - I've sat in the Brunnihutte looking at folks doing the climbing thing and that's enough for me
