City/Town: Zürich
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: Kaserneen strasse 29, 8004. Zürich

I saw this Museum advertised in the newspaper and thought it would make an interesting visit!
Having called them, they told me that there is at least a 3 month waiting list . . . so as I like to plan ahead anyway . . I have booked for the follwoing date:
Thursday 7th March 2013
Start time is 7pm - punctual!

The group size is 15 but that could be increased to maximum of 20 people.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE - The visit is all in German - so you should at least be able to understand a reasonable level. Hopefully we will get some advanced `German` speakers with us, to assist if required.

The policeman on the phone told me that anyone who books to go - but then `no-shows` will be hunted down and arrested.
RSVP'd Yes: 12 (8 members and 4 guests)
  • basher
  • irish_temptation - and I am Swiss - so should be able to help with German :)
  • Oldhand + 1 guest - Nice one Basher
  • J.Marple + 2 guests
  • Marian_CH + 1 guest - Thank you Basher !
  • caz - would really love to come, just need to confirm child care as this is in school holidays. I have been round the Black Museum in NSY, is it similar?
  • Assassin
  • Papa Goose - if there's room
RSVP'd Maybe: 1 (1 members and No guests) RSVP'd No: 1
  • Wollishofener - There is a wine-tasting event on that evening anyway --- and there is the "police register" where stuff which is out of the penal register wsurvives into eternity
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

This museum, is it full of mugshots of people caught speeding or sorting their recyclables on a Sunday?

Re: Vist to the Swiss Criminal museum

First of all - sorry to Lost Inbroad for harping on about an event far into the future . . . sorry mate.

Just had a letter back from the Kriminalmuseum - confirming the visit for `The English Forum Group` on 7th March at 19:00.
Points to note are:
Tour lasts appx 2 hours.
It also includes a film show.
Minimum age is 18.

There is also a form on which I have to enter the names, dates of birth and addresses of EVERYONE who is going.
This has to be sent in by 5th Feb.

I guess that gives them time to er, er, check us out maybe?.

In any case - I will not mention this again until late Jan, when I will be asking for details from everyone who has registered.

So for now . . . . . go back to sleep

Re: Vist to the Swiss Criminal museum

Hello Mr. Basher (whose name fits this event ever so appropriately)

The tour sounds fascinating, especially considering the background of the group. I'd like to talk to a few of my Swiss friends who might be interested in joining up. The idea of a mixed group of expats and Innerschwyzer touring a Swiss criminal museum is too tempting to resist.

Thanks for the thought and for organising. Good job, Mr. Basher.

Re: Visit to the Swiss Criminal museum

Dear all,
I have to confirm this trip by the 5th Feb and in addition complete a list of names (with dates of birth and addresses) of all people attending.
Sorry to have to push the issue - but if you are thinking about going, then you`ll have to decide soon!
If you are one of those people who are unable or unwilling to see beyond next week, then my sympathies lie with you.
In any case I will bump this again next week!
Cheers,
Basher.

For the subsequent Betreibung of the No-Shows...

It isn't easy organizing anything with over 6 people attending. Often extra staff have to be asked to come in, because the special show for the EF has taken away all their resources, and nobody is left for the walk in members of the public. Vacation lists have to be consulted etc etc. Things work smoothly here because they are planned, and not left to chance, (as in other countries I won't mention here)

When I booked the visit, I received a letter from the Kriminal Museum, stating that the visit is reserved for us on the 7th March. However we have to CONFIRM by the 5th February.
Attached to the letter is a Bestätigungsformula - which has to be completed and sent back. The formula has a table entitled `Teilnehmerzeichnis` (Name, Date of birth, Address).

That is why.

If people are unhappy about giving out this info (which the Police have anyway!) then they have the option of course, not to attend.
From my point of view it should be simple.
Q- do I want to go on this trip?
A - Yes
Q - Am I free on that date?
A - (check calender etc) Yes
Action - confirm attendance and supply info.
If then some other potential social engagement pops-up, tell them `sorry I am already doing something`.
I gues that does not help the `I want to go - but something better might pop up` brigade.

Re: Visit to the Swiss Criminal museum

The Black Museum in New Scotland Yard is very restricted as well. They just like to know who they have wandering around the private museum.

The Scandinavian equivalents on the contrary are quite open and easy to access - just walk up, sign in the guestbook and enjoy.

Re: Visit to the Swiss Criminal museum

As I have to confirm this by the 5th Feb . . . . I do realise that most people will not have looked forward to any March events yet . . . . . .so this is not the final bump . . . .but not far off it. Another reminder on Monday.
If you fancy going . . . . put your name down now!

I put my name down with 1 guest, but I'm hoping a friend will join. As soon as I know, I'll change it on the list. Hope it's ok, and thanks for organising, it looks really interesting.

I think I should go incognito. They'll want free consultations and I'll end up having to figth them off with my knitting needles.

Being famous is so tiring
