Re: Schaffhausen Book Club - January

It was so nice to meet you all tonight. The book I suggested is Joseph Anton by Salman Rushdie. I heard an interview by Kurt Anderson with Salman Rushdie on this program Studio 360 (which you might enjoy - it mostly covers literature, film, and the arts)

On an unrelated note, this is the coffee bar/bookstore that I mentioned reading about in Winterthur. I'd love to check it out sometime!

Re: Schaffhausen Book Club - January

It was nice to see you all again yesterday. Too bad you couldn´t be there, Elisa.

I like flyingsquirrel´s proposal. I would like to add two proposals. The first one is the biography of Frida Kahlo by Hayden Herrera. I don´t know much about Kahlo, but I am curious to read more about her life:

http://www.amazon.com/Frida-A-Biogra...ds=frida+kahlo

Second book I want to suggest is from the Swiss author Martin Suter, I just picked a book that is available in english: A deal with the devil.

Sound like you had a relly nice time
I would like to add my suggestion for next month meeting:
House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz http://www.amazon.com/The-House-Silk.../dp/0316197017
I am reading it at the moment and it's a great book, expecially if you like Arthur Conan Doyle.
As for the meeting I will be happy to check out the coffe in Winterthur

That also sounds interesting. I like Sherlock Holmes, and I never heard of this book. I think the choice is going to be difficult! Does anyone else want to add a book, or shall we make a poll with the four suggestions so far?

Re: Schaffhausen Book Club - January

So Sorry everyone for being late in posting this. Making a poll today and likely moving the meeting to Early/Mid March ( as I don;t think we'll have enough time to finish the book by end Feb)
What do you think?

Again, apologies, work has been crazy.

Yes, I think it´s good idea to plan the meeting in (the middle of) March. (although it depends a bit on which book we are going to read.)
