What about the Sundays 11-a-side on Brunau ?
I was there last sunday and the game was good... 10 a side, harder for me as it was my first time with 11 size goals. They plan to have a regular game every sunday at 12:00.
I wanted to go there and try once or twice more to see if I can do it better with the big goals.
But I'd be happier to keep playing at basteigasse as I like the field ( and the goals are smaller ) and the people.
Maybe best would be to coordinate with them, they were chosing between saturday or sunday for their game so it would be great if it is saturdays at Brunau and Sundays at Basteigasse.

Well, the five-a-side is a total casuals game. With less than five on each team, we still can play a game. It's free, it's regular enough that we have newbies each time as well as seasoned regulars and there's always a good mood. I'm not really into playing big boys footie and as the 1pm start is convenient, I root for Schanzengraben. As no-one owns the event and the organisation is so easy, I'll keep turning up as long as there's a demand, regardless of the weather
Salsa_Lover, does this mean the fabulous ball you bought for us back home is still available? | | This user would like to thank Uncle Max for this useful post: | |

Sure
In fact I brought 2 for us.
one F50 for the games outside with the textured skin ( we just tried it out last Sunday, it is fast and light... and harder to catch for me ) and one Teamgeist Sala 65 for indoors, this one is the official futsal ball, smaller and less bouncy, good for playing on wooden indoor pitches.

Hey Salsa Lover, is Umax right about the big boys? I'd be interested in playing more often, but in my experience, those games are often more competitive than fun, especially for those still developing our madfootieskills? are there any girls out?
i'm definitely in for saturday!

Hi Heather,
The game at Brunau on Sundays was on a larger and softer astro-turf field with 11 size goals, the field I believe is smaller than a football stadium, many of the guys there play on the FC Hard on the 3rd league and the game was indeed more competitive, but still friendly and with a good atmosphere, although I've seen some rough tackles and a few men down from my end .
As I am an amateur, and that was my first time at the big goals and with the FC Hard guys, I felt less confident, that and the fact that the attackers arrive less often to the goal so I had to be waiting longer in the cold and then react faster when they come, But I think I could play better the next times.
The games at Basteigasse are softer and more relaxed, but fast enough to keep me awake , the atmosphere is friendly and cool, more like the neiborghood games we had when I was a young lad.
We had once a girl playing with us, vortexx and she did very well. Girls are welcome as long as they don't dare to score on my goal .

Hello,
Vertexx is a forum member, she came and played with us once.
As about cleats, we play on an school playground on an orange pitch, that has a ruber floor that is soft enough for the children to play and fall without hurting themselves, but not as soft as astroturf or artificial grass.
So you don't really need cleats there, you can play with any sports shoes, but if you want to play there regularly ( and also at Brunau ), the best would be turf football shoes ( the ones with many little cleats).
Right now I have seen some on sale at Manor and surely there will be even cheaper by the end of January at the sports shops like sportxx, athleticum, ochsner etc.
Fussball Corner Oechslin at the Schaffhauserplatz in Oerlikon is the specialized football shop in Zurich, they have full sortiment of items and also a little discount shop where maybe you can also find what you look for on sale.

Otherwise good points, Salsa_Lover!
Everyone welcome on Sunday

i am definitely still interested, however, in last nights shenanigans, i've buggered up my knee somehow, its definitely not very happy. That being said, if i'm walking tomorrow, i'll definitely show up, and then i'll see how it goes for playing, or maybe just cheering? fetching warm beverages?

Conditions in Hoch Ybrig look too good tomorrow to miss out on, so I'll be hitting the slopes most probably. Mountains vs. astro-turf, not such a tough call for someone from the lowlands.
Anyway, looks like you already have a goalie?

Last call for a kick-about...
(Ps, it's on a hard rubber surface, not astro-turf, as mentioned somewhere above...)
