09.03.2013 12:00 to 16:00
*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Basel
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: Brausebad or St Louis

CYCLISTS : Meet at Brausebad (Bus 50 stop to the airport) at 11:15

Non-cyclists: At the market (see map link below) from around 11:30

Farmers' Market, St Louis
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=...ra=ls&t=h&z=18

After some shopping at the market we'll go to Cafe Literarie for lunch at 12:00 (after which I'll go to Geant Casino for more food shopping). I don't plan on booking so if the cafe is full then we can go to La Diligence instead.

Market to (either) restaurant to supermarket is easily walkable for those not cycling. To get to the market in the first place, either take tram 11 to St Louis Grenze and walk over the border, or takethe French "Distri" bus (pay in Euros as you enter to the driver) from Schifflände to St Louis stop "carrefour/crossroads".

Re: St Louis lunch and food shopping

Thanks for the tip. Non-cyclists have even more reason to feel sad, poor and depressed now

As for lunch at Cafe Litteraire - as (as usual) no one is able to commit, I won't be booking, and recently they've been busy. But La Diligence also does great food, and has more space inside.

But about the bus, you can get a return for 2.20 i think. Another thing worth knowing is that there is a special family ticket at weekends that is only 4.40 and can be used for, I think, 2 adults and 3 or more children. They don't normally suggest it, so you have to suggest it.

That was a pleasant afternoon. I'd recommend people join future jaunts.

I got a Flake.

Re: St Louis lunch and food shopping

You got more than one flake, unless you threw the rest out of your shopping basket later on.

I had roasted kid goat stew for lunch. Yummy! And currently attempting aMoroccan lamb "tagine" dish (in a saucepan as I have no tagine) having been inspired to buy some ingredients at the Moroccan stall at the market.

It'll slow cook until late tonight, then sit tight until tomorrow evening for me to eat once back from xc skiing.

Used the family bus ticket again, it's 4.70, and can be used all day long
