Time for another Lausanne get-together! This one will be Thursday, January 31st, starting at 8.00pm - sorry for the somewhat late notice, I am in charge of posting the announcement this time and I kept forgetting to do it . As always, everyone is welcome: new-comers and old-timers, plus partners, friends, colleagues, etc.

Several people have asked if we can have the event somewhere different from the King Size pub, where we normally go. Lausannebrit suggested that we try the Taco's bar (you can read that post here), it appears to fit the main criteria for an appropriate venue (read more about those here), so we're going to give it a try.

The address is Rue de Geneve 17, Lausanne. It is in the Flon district, but unfortunately I cannot give you as detailed directions as normal because I have not been there myself yet. Here is a map, and here is what Lausannebrit said previously, but maybe she will respond to this thread with more details:

"It is also in the Flon, not very far from Kingsize. You have to be a bit brave to go there the first time as it is several floors underground and there is only a doorway at street level. Once you've gone down two sets of stairs and through a heavy curtain you come out in a huge, well-lit cellar bar. On the left there are loads of tables & chairs, pool tables, a stage and bars. On the right is an area that they can reserve for groups which has its own bar, easily standing room for 40 (& probably loads more) and a few tables & chairs. Its not generally too noisy to chat or too smoky. I think the bar prices are a bit cheaper than Kingsize."

I haven't bothered to make a reservation, we'll just see how it goes. If you want more info then here is a link to the bar's website.

Although we normally bring along Heather's moose to show which group of people is us, he often doesn't get seen because he is not as big as people expect. Therefore, we'll try to make some sort of sign saying "EF" or something equally obvious. If you still can't find us then just listen to the conversations or ask around to find the people talking English, and that should be us .
