OK...due to popular demand this is the official event thread for the "Lake Rattle & Roll" rockabilly festival at Taco's Bar this Satruday night 23rd February.

(the following is plagiarised from the previous Taco's Bar event...thanks Heather!)

What
Thursday, Feb. 14th (yes, this is Valentine’s Day) we’ll be sampling the beverages and food at Taco’s Bar in Lausanne from 9:00pm onwards, and we want you and your friends to join us. The bar has a huge selection of beers and other drinks to choose from, an extensive menu of Mexican food, and a bunch of pool tables.

There is also a rockabilly festival / night taking place. Details about Lake Rattle 'n' Roll festival here. But as i said I'm partial to the occasional bit of 50s americana so should be a a bit of fun. And we can always head off to one of the all night places after.

There is a 15chf cover charge for the event, but you get 4 bands for that, so pretty reasonable.


Where it is
Taco’s is located at Rue de Geneve 17, Lausanne in the Flon district. It’s easy to spot from the outside, as it has a huge yellow canopy over the door. The bar itself is located several floors underground, so after you go in, just keep going downstairs (two flights) until you find the bar area. The nearest public transportation stops are Bel-Air (bus) or Flon (Metro). From Bel-Air you’ll need to take the lift in the FNAC or the nearby stairs down to Rue de Geneve.

The best directions to Taco's bar were given by Lausannebrit in a previous thread, so I'll repeat them here:

Tacos Bar ... is located in the Flon District. The official address of the building is rue de Genève 17, but the entrance to Tacos Bar is actually at the back, so you need to enter from Rue du Port Franc. The entrance is opposite a snowboard/ski shop called Trend Mania and has a yellow awning that is lit up quite brightly.

If you're trying to find it for the first time, here are some directions:

From the Bel Air bus stop, walk down the stairs that are to the right of FNAC. Go all the way down to the road that is below FNAC (rue de Genève). Cross over at the pedestrian crossing and walk straight ahead. The Ripcurl shop and the Bistrot du Flon will be on your right, a shop called Maniak on your left. At the end, turn right and the entrance to Tacos is immediately on your right.

I'm a little confused, but I think the music starts at 9.00p? Anybody want to get there a little early and shoot some pool?

Unfortunately 9pm is the earliest i can make it....

But looking at the last time we were there for the wrestling i dont really see it kicking off on schedule....i dont thing rockabilly'ers are going to be any better time keepers than swiss power wrestlers....

Hmmm...good point...you can see my pic by clicking on my profile...failing that just stroll around listening about for english being spoken in a variety of accents...british, america, french etc etc...

Just home now, after a good night out. A few more than a dozen of us, old and new faces, and the music was pretty good too. Not at all crowded, and my clothes don't stink of smoke - wow, this Taco's place is pretty good for meets!
