[motorbike] Coming for a ride tomorrow?

Rumours are that it'll get up to 19°C tomorrow, so it's time to dust off your bikes, oil that chain and get out there.

It can be anywhere really, I'm open to suggestions however the Schwarzwald has some great roads and less speed restrictions than these parts. Nothing too lary though as it's only the beginning of the season and everyone needs some time time to get back into it if they haven't ridden for a few months.

I'll be squeezing myself into my leathers around 10ish as it'll probably be a bit nippy before that. A possible meeting place might be at the BP station at the airport or possibly the Kemptthal services on the A1.

Anyone up for it then?

Re: [motorbike] Coming for a ride tomorrow?

I'd love to go but unfortunately my bike isn't here yet ;/ What kind of bike do you ride Spanky?

Mine should be arriving in the first week of March at the latest, I need to replace the exhaust manifold gasket, give her an oil change, bleed the brakes, drain the carbs and I'll be good to go!

My Dad went for a ride today with his friend in Germany today. Schwarzwald in fact. I'm looking forward to checking that area out. I'll definitely get in touch when I'm ready to go. I need to get some proper pants though. I've only got denim and a leather jacket.

Nothing special by today's sportsbike standards, at least where horsepower is concerned. I've got an old Ducati 916 Strada which I faithfully slobber over on a regular basis. 13 years old and still one of the most beautiful bikes there are. But then I would say that....

It's got some really great roads there. Whether it's balls out or just a relaxed jaunt, you won't be disappointed whatever your riding style is. Of course, full on type riding is best left for the track, as we all know.

Wanna join inn but couldn't start the bike today . Battery seems to be OK as the headlights and blinkers are working fine. Engine is not cranking up. I guess there is come problem with the starter making sound like tick-tick-tick-tick or fast rattling. Any advice? I have a BMW 1150GS.

Beautiful bike! I've always wanted a 916. Does yours have the white tail section? Send me a photo if you've got one handy. As for the ride, I'll take a rain check

No real idea, I'm afraid. Could it be that the engine isn't getting any fuel? Clogged injector nozzles or carbs are a common problem if engine hasn't turned over for a while.

That was my 748 in Brno a few years back. The 916 is the all red monoposto from the first year of production.

I've been itching to go for a ride since we left Australia back in December. Unfortunately, I need another month or two of being paid in CHF to accumulate enough local funds to buy something (I refuse to pay extortionate bank rates to transfer cash over unless absolutely necessary - and since we have a credit card with no international fees or commissions, that hasn't happened yet).

Definitely be out and about late March/Early April though ! Looking very closely at a second hand Monster 620 or 695 - anyone you know selling one (or something similar) ?

Sounds like the battery to me. There's enough juice in it to work the lights, but not enough to spin the starter.
The ticking / rattling noise is the starter solenoid repeatedly trying to kick the starter into life (and failing because of the flat-ish battery).

Nothing to worry about - Charge up the battery, and you'll be good to go
