| | | Drama/acting Club
Hello everyone, I have searched around for different drama and acting clubs and I haven't been too happy with the results. Plus, I think it would be nice to start one with more than one cause.
What does everyone think about starting our own Acting Club and while we're at it raise money for productions, the Forum and other causes?
I could provide screen play and writing ideas, acting and a location. If possible we could all volunteer our homes and rotate the meeting places so that we avoid unecessary costs. Unless we all put our heads together to find a great and cheap location.
We would all have to be committed to this and help each other out with the improvement of our acting skills and abilities. But if we make it work I think it would be great fun! Please let me know so that we can hopefully get started.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Nelly ...
This sounds like a fun idea but I'm pretty useless at most creative things.
Are you thinking of a club based in Zurich btw or some other city in CH?

Hi Nanda,
Thanks for the interest . Some of the most boring and not so creative people (in my opinion) are taking over Hollywood. So that leads me to believe that anyone can make it.
I simply believe that having the right support system, no one judging on how good or bad you are is what makes things work.
Zürich would be the Canton of choice, but I live in 8123 Ebmatingen and I am not sure how anxious one would be to come to my place.
Let's just find out what we are all made of. When would be the day/s of choice. My days of choice would be Monday night from 5 p.m. on, Wednesday night from 7 p.m. on and Friday night from 7:15 p.m. on.
I just want to make it work so that we get a good amount of people going.

Hello I-b-deborah,
That would great, I want us all to have fun but at the same time learn from one another and make something out of our little group. That's the spirit I am looking for and space is always something that is needed! Thanks for the reply!

Abfab. I am introducing something that requires no talent but a potential to develop something and just something that people do for fun! If it hopefully leads to small productions so be it, the main thing is to have fun, share ideas, raise money for the forum and other things.
I have no idea how in the world to take your text but I somehow don't appreciate it and as it seems you meant no good by it.
What's wrong with this outfit, exactly this and I quote:
"The Zürich comedy club meets on Monday evenings." and here's the fun part,
" Potential new members are always welcome to attend Club Monday evenings." Key word being POTENTIAL!
So I ask you, how did you mean your post? " meets on Monday Evenings |

Hey Nelly,
Well, as sarkastic as many people can be on this forum... I think it was just a suggestion of an alternative and not meant to be taken to heart.
I see that you're doing something different as you I understand you're not focusing on just comedy... right?
At any rate, don't let people put you off, go for it, and hey I think AbFab was just trying to be helpful.

You stated that you hadn't been "too happy" with the results of your search for drama and acting clubs. I wondered if you had overlooked Zurich's long-standing English-speaking theatre group. But it appears that as they have spent the last 50 years meeting on the same evening you are suggesting you somehow take it as a dig. And what's wrong with 'potential'? I guess it means that you can try it out and see if you like it before committing yourself paying membership.
Good luck with your venture...

Hi, Nelly I'd also be interested, although 3 nights could be a bit much. Look forward to seeing how things develop. |

Do you have any experience? I'm imagining we will need someone to give us some direction.
I could also drag along a mate or two if we don't get all that much interest from here. Or we could do "Waiting for Godot" which has a small cast, and I've got it at home..... Memories of Rik Mayall as Gogo... sigh

I am so sorry that I did not specify what I meant by availability.
I just meant that I wanted to tell people about how many evenings I am free and see how many people had a same time slot as me.
I would ideally only like to have one evening per week or one evening every 2 weeks depending on how things go.
Thanks for the interest! I will just post a date I guess and see how many people can make it. I need some time to plan it so it wouldn't be until May or so. Thanks, Nelly |

Hi Abfab,
I apologise for jumping the gun on your comment. I realize now that you were trying to be helpful. I am quite nervous and I am totally putting myself out on the forum and I just... overreacted. I am a Drama Queen
I hope you can accept my apology. Thanks, Nelly
And Lynn, thanks. A friend is someone who tell one when they were in the wrong |

I have to send an official apology to all those drama club goers!!
In July I got this crazy viral infection that put me in the hospital for a few days and left me recovering until mid August.
One of my greatest pals in Switzerland found out that she had ovarian cancer and asked for my help at her Kindergarten (I have worked under her since 2004 on and off) all the while, I was working at another childcare place and beginning my new teaching position at an International School. So I was working 3 jobs one in Zürich, one in Winterthur and one in Bülach and I live near the Greifensee.
My dear friend passed away and I took over her Kindergarten. Since then I have really had no time for myself, led alone anything else.
I am slowly getting things in order and want to resume my life and enjoy myself.
The thing is, I highly doubt that anyone would want to come out to Bülach and meet up for the club at my Kindergarten? It is 15 min. by train and a short 10 min. walk. Before we were trying to figure out a location and now I have one, but it is not in the city.
Thanks for the patience and I hope to get the Performing Arts Bunch back into gear. Once more my sincerest apologies to my wonderful bunch for falling off the face of Switzerland and not even informing you of my troubles.
Love, Nelly

Nelly Belly I'm so sad to hear about the loss of your friend and hope the good memories give you the strength to move on. After meeting you and being infected by your enthusiasm I wouldn't hesitate to make the journey to Bulach count me in. | |
