Would anyone be interested in a BBQ while we're at it? It was nice last week and if the crazies at MeteoSwiss are to be believed, it'll be warm and sunny again this Sunday.
I reckon Würst on the grill and a case of beer might encourage a few extra to turn up.
Or at least have something to eat and a beer Give the spectators something to do.
Any thoughts?
(Other than watching out for the Parky and his wagging finger...)

Grill sounds great. But will the school caretaker be happy about this?

honest, i dont want this to turn in a sit-in.
why not having all of your kids down too,
some chalk drawings on the court might give
the old lawn a more nicer look?
or is this all ironic and i did not get it?
be assured that the friendly neighbours wont stay
as those any longer when nice bbq essences waft
around...lil too much for me...im there for footy,
not for forum sunday drinks/bbqs etc.

Well, very often the first thing you want is the last thing you need.
There were 22 people last week, and a beer and snack woulda been good while waiting our turn
Well, don't worry, Flow23, we'll try to minimise the 'fun' element and keep it brutal.
(Deep voice) "WE ARE SPARTANS!"
No grill this weekend. By Order. Important Note: The Zurich Marathon is this Sunday and the route is right next to where we play. Getting along the Bahnhofstrasse, Talstrasse, Bürkliplatz and Bellevue is going to be a pain. Please give an extra few minutes for your journey.
While I'm here, I'd like to remind everyone this game isn't guaranteed: the deciding factor after weather and numbers is whether the pitch is being used by school kids already. The Janitor came to us recently and said it was fine we played there - which was kind of him - but we have to give priority to those who actually go to the school
Just want to make this clear as last weekend we had to wait half an hour for the little chaps to finish their game. It's rarely an issue, but now you know | | The following 2 users would like to thank Uncle Max for this useful post: | |

I also think that playing football while intoxicated is dangerous.

flow23 is right
It is normally forbiden and frown up to do grills in urban areas or public parks.
What could be done is to have footy and then instead of going to the pub, head to the lake shore and organise a grill there.

Seeing as this is getting so popular, we may have to consider a maximum number of players. I think it's great so many want to come down and join us, but there are - for some reason - very often a lot more turning up than RSVP.
This event is open to all, of course, but if we start having a gang of 20+ each week we may have to either limit the number allowed or have staggered starting times, which is going to get complicated.
We can just about manage four teams of five over a couple of hours (10 minutes per game or first to three goals worked reasonably well last time) but it can get a little dull waiting up to twenty minutes for a game. It's not terrible, but coming for two hours and getting 40 minutes playing time may start to be annoying for some.
Obviously we're all there to play. I greatly enjoy three teams, allowing a faster rotation of teams. Should we limit it to 15 in future? (seeing as invariably there are more who'll just show up anyway).
Any thoughts?

Anyone going through HB tomorrow that fancies having me following along? My first time at Sunday footy. Can find it on my own but if there's anyone going the same way as me, I'll come meet you |

I like limit to 15.
With preference given to those who have been there every week. |

Any thoughts? | | | | | Anyone know of a place (e.g. a park) where we could just show up, throw down jumpers for goalposts, and play away? It would be nice to have a grass surface over the summer months... We wouldn't have to worry so much about numbers but still be able to keep it casual. Or is this too difficult in Zurich?

Normally you can't play on public parks.
There are however many big parks with quite flat grass surfaces where a game could be tried. I've seen 2 at the Mythenquai and also by seefeld.
The best thing would be to try to get a place at the football installations at Brunau. I guess it is needed to pay a fee to use the fields there.
Like this there could be 11-a-side matches.
