The big names for the Blue Balls festival have been announced

As well as the bands playing at the KKL, there are many other venues with live acts over the week (not yet announced), including open air concerts. Some concerts are free, but you can also buy a pin which will get you access everywhere except the KKL.

Was going to go last year (by all accounts looks like it had the better line up) but didn't get around to it. This year I am hoping to pop down and check it though! Think a big group of EF-ers will come???

No idea, shall think about making a social event. I'll be going, and I've got my ticket for the Stereo MCs. Trouble is that town is so packed it makes it hard to travel in large groups.

KKL is musically excellent. I've seen both classical there and also rock (I assume I can plonk Gianna Nannini into that genre!).

The Saal itself is very interesting in an egg-box-meets-ceiling-art-and-sound-control way.

Will have to check out the ticket availablity soon.

Isn't 10CHF for a sticker (compared to the pin for 50CHF) which works as a day pass to everything apart from KKL?

The Pavilion is free, you'll get hassled to buy a pin or a sticker but you don't have to. You need a pin or sticker to get into the Schweizerhof, and you need to buy tickets for the KKL.

50CHF for a 9 day festival isn't really that bad, and you'll be supporting a great event.
