On Tuesday 10th February we are going to try the USA

Is it what used to be restaurant Peking? Anyone fancy meeting up beforehand, either in Boomerang's next door, or the Turnhalle opposite?
Is anyone meeting up for a drink beforehand?
I have three possible trains which get to Bern between 18.10 and 18.52 and would catch the earlier one if people were meeting earlier.

How long does it take to walk from the station? ( bearing in mind that trains from Neuchatel always arrive at the very last platform with the longest walk possible)

I won't be there early but maybe Paddy and TiMow will be?

It will take you 10-15 minutes from your platform. Remember the place we had tea this afternoon? Go up the escalator at that end of the station onto Neuengasse. From there the map Sbrinz linked should get you where you want to go. If you need more specifics let me know.

I can be there early too. I have a meeting that won't go past 17:00, then it takes me an hour to get there.

Either in Boomerang's next door, or the Turnhalle? I can't decide such things! Some one pick one!!!

According to the map provided by Sbrinz, it will take about 6 minutes (maybe a bit optimistic) to walk to the restaurant.

My train arrives at 1856h, so I will likely be fashionably late, but not as bad as last month. Notwithstanding any cold weather tricks that could cook the schedule, I plan on padding on a bit more time to get to Gare de Lausanne and escape any possible traffic. No way I'm losing two billets dégriffés, two months in a row.

Re: Bern Dinner Club, (Tuesday 10th February) US style Burgers

If you emerge from the station complex by Burger King, take a left, past BK, down a couple of blocks and then turn right for a block.
If it takes 6 mins, from there, that's about all it does take.

My two train options will get me there for either just after six or twenty to seven.

I've never drank in either of the two suggested venues, so can't say which is good. The Turnhalle looks like it might be bigger, but I'm only going from what I remember from walking past, once.

The Turnhalle was previously suggested, so maybe go along with that.

Maybe we can let Paddy decide as he first suggested meeting up.
Boomerang is on a side side street, I think it is next door to the KungFu Burger

I'll take that as 6 minutes from the escalator near Burger King to the restaurant rather than from my platform as it takes me that long just to get from the train to the station exit ( unless I have to sprint like I did yesterday).

I know more or less where it is so I'll try to get the train that arrives at 18.06 and stroll along to whichever bar is decided upon. Given that I won't know anybody ( other than MiniMia) who's arriving early should I wear a pink carnation or carry a copy if the Guardian or sumfink?

OK guys, I suggest we meet at the Boomerang, it's right next door. I'll be working till just gone 18:00, so won't be there till around 18:20 anyway. I also have to shoot off fairly rapidly afterwards to meet up with mate in Fribourg to watch the footy .

Should we order up your burger and fries in one of these, then?

Just a reminder... we are NOT having burgers at Burger King!! Keep on walking right past it.

Umm, yeah, you'll recognize me easily. I'll be the girl wearing jeans.

Train home just left Bern Bahnhof.

Great night. Some pretty good burgers with good meat. If I don't wake up tomorrow alive you'll know what did it but seriously it was good. The acoustics inside probably made communication a bit difficult but the restaurant is nicely appointed.

Now waiting upon miniMia's assessment...

Hope to be able to see many of you again next month.

That was a very pleasant evening with nice food. Nice to meet some new faces too.
Probably about halfway home by now but wishing I'd stayed and caught the next train, this one stops everywhere ( even more than the daytime 'slow' train.

IM(H)O, best burger in CH (so far)! The fries however... meh.

I think my work here is done and I might have to dedicate my new search to finding the best Mexican food.

Totally agree with the acoustics. It made chatting with anyone that wasn't right next to you difficult. Could have been just the room we were in.
