City/Town: Rust, Germany
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: Entrance to the park

After the fun we had last year when we went I thought it would be good to organise another trip to Europa park:

http://www.europapark.de/lang-en/c51/default.html

Everyone is welcome old or young and feel free to bring your children if you want to.

Meeting point will be around 9.30am at the park entrance and from there we can either split into groups for people who want to go on the "scary" rides and those that want a slightly tamer ride. We'll then meet up as a group for some lunch and plan the afternoon from there.

To get there by train you need to go to Freiburg and from there you can get a bus which takes you directly to the park entrance.

Hope to see lots of you there.

Re: Europa Park

I'd really like to go to Europe Park, as I've never been. I'm curious to know what the rides are like there (by which I mean the extreme ones, I'm a total adrenaline junkie) and what the queues are like. Is it typical to squeeze in just a few rides a day, or are the crowds manageable?

Just curious,

Heather

Re: Europa Park

What are the height restrictions like for the rides like?

I love rollercoasters, but the (7yo) boy is probably the only one who will go on them with me. He's 130cm tall (just measured him tonight). Is this sort of thing going to be OK for 90% of rides?

Has anyone else been with mid-range kids?

thanks,
(Mr)Wibble

PS> The website doesn't say anything about height-requirements, but it does say "...great special offers for groups of 20 persons or more!". Cool.

Re: Europa Park

130cm's should be ok for most of the rides I think. From what I remember the limit is normally 120cms and above....but I could be wrong. If I remember I will give them a call next week when I'm back at work as in the process of moving house at the moment.

Heather, adreniline junkies will have no problem finding fun as the have the silver star which scared the living sh*t out of me and I love scary rides! It's very tall, very steep and very fast. Queue times were also not a problem when we went last time and I've purposely planned it for a weekend after the bank holidays so hopefully a lot of people will have been and won't be up for a return visit so soon.

It will be a great day regardless and one not to be missed as it makes the experience even better when there are a lot of you.

Mel

One additional point Mr Wibble, I'll be there to accompany you on the "big" rides if the little 'un is too small (which I doubt).

Re: Europa Park

I was just there on the easter long weekend. The weather was cold, rainy and windy but b/c of that, it wasn't half as busy as it normally would have been on a long weekend! We were able to hit every ride with minimal line up time and even did some more than once.

I can fully attest that the Silver Star is indeed a pant-****ter.

The Eurosat was also a bit freaky. But the one that terrified the most was the Euro-Mir....I had to sit down immediately after getting off that ride!
I can't wait to go back during nicer weather and hit the water rides!

Re: Europa Park

Took the kids these last Spring holidays, I was able to follow along behind another family in their car.

After driving there over the German highway for my very first time (Man did the ol' Glut's get a nervous, but exceedingly good work out!!), I have to say the *Silver star* was somewhat of an anti climax

I nearly had a heart attack the amount of adrenaline pumping through me after that ride and I love scary, thrill seeking rides.

Still not sure if I'll be brave enough to face it again!!!

Hi there, nope, not at all, any I might have had before were left behind on the Highway!!

Truly,,, driving on there used up every drop of adrenaline, I was following a maniac madwoman at the time and didn't want to lose her, (well, me get lost, might be closer to the truth).

I felt like I was in a James Bond movie, weaving in and out of the traffic at such speed (I have never in my life driven that fast!).
I mean, I was weaving/maneuvering/dodging,belting (you name it, I was ing-ing it) along at 155/160 kmh and that still wasn't fast enough for crying out loud!!!!

The trouble is you see, I got the old "what ifs??? " !!!

"What if I didn't tighten the wheel nuts good enough?" "what if I clip that partition when I am having to overtake to keep up with that crazy woman?" (or more likely, someone clips me on overtaking, cos I am driving so slowly!!!) "what if we have an accident at this speed!!!!!!?"

Imagining too, presuming I survived it at all, what I was going to say to the Parents of my daughters' friend, if I got her killed?!!!!!!

Not least, hoping I had worn decent knickers (not that it would matter after all, I know what they would be like in the event), in case of said accident (it's a worry! y'know ).

So, when we actually got there all in one piece, I kind of came to the conclusion that, if I survived that, then I can survive anything!!!

Ros

P.S. At the start, driving so fast I felt really quite naughty! Going home on the other hand was an absolute breeze!!!, apart from losing my parking coin, but that's another story.......

I'm still planning on going, but (Mrs)Wibble has volunteered for some school international festival thing. So that leaves me splitting the fambly in half.

I just canvassed the kids, and checked the age/height restrictions on the Europa Park website. There's not much for 4yo to ride on, but the other two should be sweet.

I'll still leave it as Maybe for the next few days. There's a risk that the kids will bail on me. If it's all sweet by then, we should have an empty car space too.

Is anyone else bringing kids?

EDIT: We're not going now. An hour ago we were, life's like that in this house... *sigh*

cheers,
(Mr)Wibble

Hi ...

so that means we have to get the 7.12 am train to Freiburg (arriving at Europa Park at 8.45) or the more civilized 8.12 am train which gets us there at around 9.50 am??

this might be a major factor for us, other than the weather... let me know and we'll confirm for sure friday morning?
