City/Town: Zurich
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Primitivo, Oberer Letten

By popular request: Beach Volley on Monday nights in Zürich!

where? Primitivo, Oberer Letten, Wasserwerkstrasse, 8006 Zurich
Tel: +41 (0)76 383 05 50 http://www.primitivo.ch. This is an open air restaurant that also has 2 sand courts (and massage apparently!). We can meet at the courts
when? Monday nights at 19h only if the weather is good!
what to bring? I'll bring a volleyball, but if you happen to have one, feel free to bring it too. The primitivo restaurant does not open until half May, so you might want to bring food (there is some grills)/drinks if you like. Your bikini for a jump in the Letten. And your good humour.
How do I get there?Tram 13 in direction Frankenthal or Tram 4 in direction Werdholzli from Bahnhofquai stop Dammweg, then 5 min. walk
Map http://www.anewcityguide.com/maps/?item=guide4143-R-01

It is allowed to just hang out and socialize and watch (unless you're a creep), but playing is obviously much more fun! All playlevels welcome!

Re: Beach Volley, Zurich

If playing volleyball is not your thang, then this is a great place to hang out and drink beer , smoke a stogie and watch the world go by. I remember a fine evening of such activity with Uncle Max and flow23 on such a balmy evening last year. Additionally you can indulge in a beer at the nearby train-carriage bar or scoff at the skateboarders under the bridge.

My personal activity of choice is jumping in the river upstream and trying to get out again 200m downstream without drowning.

That sounds like a plan.

Edit: ...for the beer & stogies team. I will also bring a grill should people want to cook a weenie or something equally creepy.

Then sign up above, and we can be the beer team with no intention of playing unless Val starts declaring Belgian victory again. Which obviously cannot stand.

It's always a pleasure to see new faces, so everyone is welcome (again, unless you're a creep). It would be great if you would join us, and particularly my team if you happen to be good .

It is a public court indeed, as far as I know

Re: Beach Volley, Zurich

Its not a plan. Its a way of life.

I have a couple of bottles of Poilly Fume knocking about, and lets hope we don't get sand in the cucumber sandwiches. What , What ?
Bring a bottle.

We are the konijn supporters team, and we will stand right in front of the players talking loudly throughout the game

Absolutely public, so public in fact people crash there for the weekend.
It's not really crashing it's resting between rounds. I've seen parties last the whole weekend there.

Re: Beach Volley, Zurich

As far as the creepy thing goes, I think a few lads sitting around with their grilled weenies, staring at beach volley, whilst smoking and drinking certainly qualifies.

And the support team will be retiring with feet up on a deckchair, straw hat covering one eye ready to react like a crocodile considering his health insurance bill.

We need blowfish to give us some more reptilian metaphors.

So anyway those of you of a sporting disposition should get down there and show your management skill at keeping balls in the air usw.

In fact we should summon the Ginger-Tornado to bring his guitar for little musical respite while partaking of beverage.

I'll bring mine anyway, and try not to distract konijn from her killer smash. Anyone play banjo or harmonica? We could earn a few rappen

Re: Beach Volley, Zurich

Great idea, but be aware Switzerland has a world-class beach volleyball history, and it's a very popular activity, especially down at the Letten. There are loads of people there every evening, so even if there's a long wait, it's a cracking place to wait

Well in that case I'm in. As far as being good, I don't know what kind of calibre i'm facing, but my buds and I won a tourny at a Regatta mind you every lost point you had to take a shot or swig a beer, so we won by being the least drunk

Which really isn't winning

Friday afternoon bump

what better way to end a sunny long weekend then by playing a game of beach volley and enjoying some grilled meat while watching the scarcely cladded crowd of Züri?

come join us for beach volley on Monday evening.
Uncle Max is right (as usual), it's a busy, popular spot and sport, so we'll see if we find a spot, but it will be fun anyways!
