I'm up for Sattelegg on Sunday, lets say a 9.30 or 10am kickoff. If anyone else is interested, I'll post it as a calendar event. Am looking at doing anwhere between 80-110km, max 1500m total ascent. Maybe a local can help out with a good route and a a good meeting point ( I will be coming by train from ZH).
Unfortunately, I will be away this weekend otherwise would have been up for it. A good starting point would probably be Pfaffikon or Lachen and then cruise up to Siebnen, easy to find the pass from there as there is a sign. On the other end, I believe you can hit the Iberegg pass as well if you are up for it, or am I sure there are plenty little routes around Einseldn.
And you should take part in this, from the best i can gather from reading, it seems free(???), just need to pickup a card at the restaurant near the start of the pass and then punch it again at the top. http://www.swisstrophy.ch/2007/index...10&strecke=802 | | This user would like to thank dakman for this useful post:

OK, I am in! Might be a bit tired from riding every day lately, but as they say: "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger", right?!
How about we meet at the Pfaffikon station. Could take the train that arrives there at 9:56 and be ready to "jump off the train and ride"...
Would love to check out the Iberegg pass as Dakman mentioned too. I don't know all the routes, but can bring a map and we can do some exploring (unless a knowledgeable local joins us, which would be great too).
Any other Zuri road cyclists out there interested in taking advantage of this beautiful weather and checking out some hills?

Or a start from Thalwil would be good too... May be a good warmup.
Post-ride beers at our place in Rueschlikon (maybe that will generate more interest!)

I am missing the drinks, so sad.
Have fun, with the weather I am pretty jealous I can't be there.

Litespeed, you ride a standard + 23 in the back?? I'm tired just thinking about trying to turn that up these hills!
Looking forward to it.

Looking forward to it. | | | | | Yeah, that's what I normally use. I have got another set of clinchers with 12-25 which I am tempted to use on Sunday to be on the safe side. Its probably not really efficient, as my cadence gets down to around 40-45 when the going gets real tough, not doing my knees any favours! But somehow I generally make it to the top...

Terribly sorry guys...the flu / fever I've been suffering from all week is proving stronger than I thought...I am in no shape to ride today.
Feel terrible having organised this and then pulling the pin.
Hope you guys get this in time!

So sorry to hear you're still feeling bad Litespeed!
No worries about the ride - Now I can lead ChrisW & his guest around at my own pace
Do take care and rest up, so that we can ride together soon!

It was a great ride - Sorry again, Litespeed, that you weren't feeling well.
ChrisW (map-reader extraordinaire!) actually ended up doing the leading around, and we discovered some really great back-roads. After this plus riding with Yokine and Mblume this week, I feel I've learned lots of good biking routes on this side. Also I am relieved to have a day or two of rest coming up!
Hope you feel better, Litespeed, by this weekend... Those hills are out there calling your name! |

Thanks for "organizing" this, litespeed. You may not have been up for the ride, but without you making the plan we wouldn't have had the great ride on Sunday, which was idyllic (which is why I gave you a "Thanks" for the above post, not because you pulled out).
As hillseeker said, I did some of the map reading, but our true guide was a retired Swiss guy called Bruno in a campervan. We met him and his wife twice along our route, and he told us stories of being an ex-pro racer and riding all of the passes when they were just gravel roads, and gave us tips on which roads to follow (then proceeded to catch up to us and cheer us on during the next climb). These days, it seems that he likes to chat to cyclists at the top of the local passes and take his camper van to watch the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia whenever he can. Some day, I wanna be like Bruno | | This user would like to thank ChrisW for this useful post:
