Turn up at the News Bar, near the main station, around 6:30. The organisers will be wearing something obvious and have lots of paperwork.

You organise into teams of 4 or so (mixed CH / non-CH is best). If you don't have a team we will find you one.

Each team gets a map with a list of pubs to visit. In each pub there are questions to answer. From these questions you find out the name of the final pub. There are also questions on general knowledge and some creativity challenges.

While on tour you look for 'treasure'.

There are points for correct answers, treasure, drinking, bonus bar visits and anything else we think fit.

You have 3 hours to complete the course.

That sounds like fun.

Interesting. Please tell us more about this it. Is there an entry fee? Are the prizes to be won? Is it a first time or has it been done before? How many people normally compete?

Is it a social thing or a commercial drive behind it?

I played in one of Puzzler's previous treasure hunts. Last time I think we had 5 mandatory pubs, plus 3 bonus pubs if you have time. In a serious statement of intent, my team started in a bonus pub last time

(You have to reach the final stop before time runs out or you're disqualified).

It's an honour system that you have a drink in each, but you need to visit at least the main 5 to find the name of the final stop.

never done something like this before...is it basically a tiem limited pub crawl or what? sounds like fun anyway...

Some more hints on how this works....

No entry fee. Just turn up, no need to book.

Flexible start time, bonus points or deductions for early or late finish.

Answers to pub questions can be found by looking around carefully. Some of the clues are cryptic. Example from last year 'what is special about the toilet seat?'. The answer was the advert for a SEAT car in the toilet.

Many clues need an understanding of English and German. You should have a local in the team if possible.

Bonus points for heavy drinking and buying the organisers drinks.

Prizes, normally liquid.

Plenty of time for some social at the end.

It's no problem if anybody shows up alone. Teams will be sorted on the night.

Everything is ready to go on Friday. There will be 5 pubs with questions plus 3 'bonus bars' where you can earn points by drinking.

I will be at the News Bar from 18:00 (the ordinary looking man in the black 'Greifenseelauf' t-shirt with lots of paperwork). You can aim to start at 18:30 as advertised or come a bit early or late. It is actually quite helpful if some teams start early, some later.

I expect at least 20 people and have reserved a corner at the final pub (which you find from the clues in other pubs).

I think I walk by it pretty regularly. It's across the street from the station between Bahnhofstrasse and the Coop on the Limmat, near where Pizza Hut used to be / the Apple store now is? I'm about 99% certain -- at least that is where I'm going to be showing up.

That's right, the News Bar is between Bahnhofstrasse and the Coop. If you come out of the station main entrance by the low numbered platforms you look across the road to the left and can see it, on a street corner not far from McDonald's.
