Weather still looks great for this evening. See you in front of the station later.
I have a number of routes on offer once we get into the countryside, depending on what people wish to do (how big a hill or not )

Thanks to you all for another great ride . So many new names and faces - hope we didn't scare you off another one.
So info for those that care ( ), the 10 of us covered a flat-hilly-flat 26km in a moving time of 1h44mins. We followed this up with a refreshing drink and a bit of food in Paddys.
In the puncture league table, you all have some catching up to do : Place - Name - No. Punctures 1 - Pat - 1 1 - Jenny - 1 2 - Everyone else - 0
Sorry, but I cannot be there for the next one, but will leave the cycle in the hands of Jenny in 2 weeks time (Thanks JennyF). Have fun.
Pat

That is one league table I would like to be at the bottom of instead of the top!
Thanks again Pat for repairing my puncture, and also for sorting out another great evening. Sorry to the rest of you for making you wait for me. Hopefully it won't happen again.
I'll post the next event in the next few days. If anyone has any suggestions for a route just let me know and I'll see what I can sort out.
I'm afraid I won't be as good a tour guide as Pat but I will try my best.

Enjoyable ride once again. Thanks Pat!
What was the name of this castle? It falls right off my Basel-Aarau hiking map (1:60 000) and Google Maps doesn't list the name. You can see it from Ettingen.

In the 1970s, the former owners installed a colony of monkeys into the ruins. Wikipedia: Château de Landskron | | | | | monkeys...heh. brilliant idea. |

Judging by the map, it is about as far as this last tour was as the crow flies. It is straighter, and if there are no punctures I estimate we should have some time to spare to wander around a bit (it's a small nature reserve, rather nice).
Not saying we HAVE to do it next time, we could always keep it in reserve as a possibility for a future ride. But if we do it, remember we will be in France, so we will need our passports.

Just spent an hour reducing the photos I took, only to discover the "Photos" link has disappeared!
Have to do it this way, then.
We wait for any late arrivals,
Weaving our way out of the city,
Wonderful views,
It would have been faster by tram,
Passing the countryside.

We are impressed with our progress, but the way home proves to be steep and stony, and fraught with dangers (like staples that get stuck in tyres).
But we overcome these hazards and get back to a meal and a pint at Paddys.

I've also got another route in mind that would involve crossing into France but I'll check out one that stays in Switzerland aswell.
Is everyone ok with crossing the border? Does anyone have any issues with pasports or visas? If so then please just let me know and we'll stay in CH. I don't want to stop anyone from being able to take part.
