22 people. Isn't that approaching full house? IIRC, 18 used to be near max.

Re: Basel Curry Night

Bombay Palace is a big place and can easily seat 40 of us, with plenty of room for other customers. I'm sure Kirsty has it all in hand.

(It was limited last time we went here as it was very close to Christmas and they had many other bookings)

Looking forward to next Tuesday

Pat

Re: Basel Curry Night

RSVPing for tomorrow night's curry is now closed - there's room for additional hangers-on. If you are a "maybe" or haven't responded yet but plan to come, can you PM me please!
See y'all tomorrow. Feel free to come dressed as a donkey or an elephant- tomorrow's a big day!!!

(this came up at the last curry night - to satisfy everyone's curiosity, as I know you have been puzzling over this for the past 4 weeks, http://www.infoplease.com/askeds/donkey-elephant.html )

kirstyjayne, so sorry but I'm going to have to bail at the last moment due to an unforseen issue.
Hope you all have a great evening

Re: Basel Curry Night

Thanks Kirsty for organising a great night. Food and company was great, even if the menu was something of a surprise to us .

Looking forward to the next one.

Pat

(Just one little niggle/point - The owner was a little annoyed that we were not the 29 that was booked. He had prepared food for that number. Kirsty booked for 29 and only 20 turned up - It is fully understandable that last minute things turn up and 1 or 2 have to pull out, but the rest of you could have let kirsty know so she could adjust the booking. It could make it difficult in future to book large groups if we have lost the owners trust/goodwill/help/whatever)

Re: Basel Curry Night

And I jumped in at the last minute, so it was 10, fully 1/3 of us that didn't show and didn't cancel.

Cheers Kirsty, was a good night.

I happily followed Lorraine out of the restaurant picking up the euros and chuff notes on the way

Exactly one of the reasons why I used to limit it I'm sad to say. I could never count on the real numbers coming and ended up having to PM everyone on the day to check if they were still a yes which didn't always help.

On another note, I was very sad last night on my lonesome missing the curry night. Well done Kirsty for organising what sounds like a brilliant meal!!!

Re: Basel Curry Night

Could it be some folks are registering for this very reason - in anticipation there will be no space if they don't jump in quick?

Probably they are simply not aware of the probems that not turning up causes. I sure didn't.

So I've taken this as a note for myself: if I register and realize later I can't make it, I'll contact the organiser.

Easy.

It was fun but we missed you! Will you come to December's dinner?

Yup - may resort to PMing people for the next ones but I know that often last minute things come up. I just felt really bad for the owner. I'd be reluctant to have another event there, and I'm sure he'd be reluctant to take us back

I will do my very best to be there for December's one (if anyone can offer me a place to sleep that is)

Bombay Palace are pretty easy going and we always spend plenty when we do the curry night so they would be mad to turn us down. They know me quite well so I'll give them a call if you like and use my best persuasion skills
