I should be moving over to Basel in April and am wondering what the music scene is like. I have seen lots of live bands advertised in Zurich but have not seen much in Basel. I'm also curious about the radio stations, is there an indie station or will I have to rely on BBC 6 music through the net?

Would also love to meet any gigging companions esp in Zurich as it seems most of the gigs are there . Am pretty easygoing when it comes to music and like anything ranging from 70s punk to folk and breakbeat. So if anyone is interested in meeting and seeing a few bands please let me know

The music scene here is very different to the UK scene. UK bands just don't get the same exposure here. I was at T in the Park in Scotland last summer and i didn't know of half the bands. I get friends back home asking if i know bands and i just don't have a clue.

www.3fach.ch is a Luzern based radio station that plays a mish mash of all styles kinda reminicent of John Peel.

http://www.couleur3.ch/fr/rsr.html?siteSect=100 is another station that i've been able to pick up in the past, but don't seem to get anymore.

You'll need the net to keep in touch with UK music living in CH. If you have iTunes, go to the music store section and switch it to the Swiss store to see what's popular here. It's quite different to the UK store.

I'm up for going to concerts too, although it all does seem to revolve round ZH. Last one i was at was Snow Patol in Oct. There was a big expat crowd at that.
