City/Town: Zurich
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: Brett's house

Hey hey,

This year I'm staying in Switzerland for Christmas, and I figured that I'm most likely not the only one. Many will be with family at this time, but not all.

The originally proposed venue is closed, and therefore Brett has kindly suggested that we can use his apartment for a "bring your own" event. Details to be ironed out but probably starting closer to 4pm

For Boxing Day, I also propose that we head down to the Ziegel Oh Lac near Rote Fabrik and take advantage of the excellent cuisine and ambience on offer.

Merry christmas!

Terry

p.s. apologies if this wipes the RSVP's....
RSVP'd Yes: 5 (4 members and 1 guests) RSVP'd Maybe: 3 (3 members and No guests)
  • Uncle Max - Sounds great. Don't have to wear a silly hat, do we?
  • sabs - well I have a family thing but if I can sneak out I might join in.
  • Dottee - sounds like a great idea, but not entirely sure yet...
RSVP'd No: 1
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

So everyone else is doing the fambly christmas thing then... for anyone not wanting to sign up and in doing so confess to being a Billy No-Mates, I'll still be going along for some food and sociable drinks regardless

I am coming over to Zurich in a couple of weeks. I haven't got all my plans sorted yet. I hope to meet up with EF members while I am there. I hope that more will be able to turn up.

Re: Alternative Christmas celebration

Feck. Just spoke to the nice people at Les Halles, and they are apparently closed this year on 25 & 26th December.

Looks like I'll have to do some homework and find somewhere else open to go for this (Rote Fabrik maybe...?) Suggestions welcome by PM, I'll update here when I've found somewhere....

Re: Alternative Christmas celebration

...as if by Magic

Ziegel-oh-Lac (the restaurant at Rote Fabrik) is open the 24th & 26th....might need to dig a little deeper to find somewhere for The Day Itself but if we can't then this should be a great backup plan for some Boxing Day celebrations.

Re: Alternative Christmas celebration

Anyone willing to give up their apartment for the day?

Everyone could bring food/drink and we could have a slap up feast whilst getting sloshed in front of the Queen's speech!

Re: Alternative Christmas celebration

Still no venue for Xmas day - also to warn off any family oriented thinkers, this is more aimed at going for some food and beers with people who aren't doing the family thing this Christmas so it might not be a good fit for everyone.

Brett is that you offering up your flat?

Re: Alternative Christmas celebration

OK, venue has now officially been changed - Brett yes you can trust me with your keys but maybe would be better to wait until you're out of work to get a crowd round? We can always sort that out in the week I suppose.

I guess if anyone wants directions to Brett's flat, send him a PM - I'll not post it in the thread just in case

See you there in 10 days!

Re: Alternative Christmas celebration

Sure, sounds good.

Would be useful to get a list of people coming, by say the 22nd or so, so we can arrange what food we all bring. The horrifying alternative is that no one brings any food and we all just have to drink all day...

Have extended the invite to our exiled friends on the piece of cyberweb which shall not be named, sounds like a few of them may pop along too.
