Fit Club

Not getting enough exercise and feeling guilty?
Getting enough but wanting to try something else?

How about we try to get together regularly for "Fit Club"?

I've been trying new activities recently, such as indoor climbing, sledding, some tough hiking and a couple of martial arts classes. Most of these things I've tried thanks to suggestions from friends. This makes me think that if we pool our ideas, we could introduce activities to each other that we might not have though about otherwise.

Anything that burns calories must be good, right? I'm not suggesting extreme sports, but things that anyone with could do. Since Fondue season is now over, maybe we can all get some benefit from doing something and then going to eat as a reward afterwards.

What do you think? All suggestions are welcome.

Re: Fit Club

Excellent idea, Diem!

If the events prove to be somewhat lengthy from start to finish- say taking place over several hours, a whole morning or an afternoon, I'd even be willing to make the big trip to Zürich. It would also depend upon whether or not the event suited me too, of course.

I am going to keep my eyes open for whatever you people work up!

Re: Fit Club

Hey Carrie,

thanks for your interest.

Make suggestions!

There is no "you people" until other people respond. Otherwise it's just me, dancing with myself...

And I did love that song by Billy Idol when I was a kid!

Hmmmm....let's see.

Starting in the old part of Fribourg and finishing in Tafers, there's a pretty meaty walk (hike?) to be done. It's known as the Valley of Gotteron. This is not for people who are afraid of heights, unstable steps, paths slippery from wet leaves, etc... It's fairly dark, but now and then you get some beautiful sun passing through the trees.

I have fond memories of my "walk" there even though I was the pretty much the last one to make my way through. Anyone interested in making it to Fribourg?

The first rule of fit club is that you don't talk about fit club. The second rule of fit club is that you don't talk about fit club.

No, no, that's not Fit Club!

The first rule of Fit Club is that you talk a lot about Fit Club.
The second rule of Fit Club is that you talk even more about Fit Club!
The third rule is, if it's your first posting, you have to suggest something!

Re: Fit Club

That's right I forgot. So the other rule would theoretically be "If this is your first time at fit club, you have to fit"

Alas, to those who don't get the joke it must seem a little strange...

In that case, we can organise Movie Club to explain.

Re: Fit Club

Excellent idea Diem! I have 2 suggestions..

1. Lets go out dancing! Loads of excercise, fun and healthy (if you don't drink and forget about all the second hand smoke)

2. If there is enough interest, I would offer a discount Pilates group class.

Excellent suggestions. Dancing is something I hardly ever do these days. I think we should choose a date, then find an appropriate event. How about Friday 21 or Saturday 22 April?

What kind of event? There seem to be many 80's nights, which would be my suggestion.

I'm already interested :-)

Re: Fit Club

I would love to get back into Pilates! I did it for a good 4 years and then the last year have pretty much not at all. I'd be into that. Dancing is always fun as well!

I'll keep checking here to see what's up!
