*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Zürich
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Zürich Zoo Tram Stop

We won't be leaving until 11:45. I had to set the meeting point as 11:30 because there was no 11:45 on the list. The run will be about 10k with hills, but all levels are welcome. The leaders can always loop back if they drop someone.

There will be Christmas treats for afterwords.

  • Eire - This seems interesting. I'm having knee pain at the moment when I go over about 6km but I'll try to make it.
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

Re: Eve of Christmas Eve Run

I had a bit of ITBS, managed to clear that up and now have pre patellar pain when I go over a few km. I want to try and skive off work in the morning and come run with you guys. Hopefully I'll manage it. I have a lot of stuff to get finished tomorrow.

I think in my case its due to weak VM and tight IT band. I changed my shoes which are playing a part in it too. But, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and with time I'm confident I'll sort it out. If I make it tomorrow don't kill me though!

Re: Eve of Christmas Eve Run

If you cycle correctly it's great for the glutes/ass. that's why pro men cyclist have such great bums...

I am also really hurting at the moment. I have to get my legs checked out. I'm gonna come but I may not last for long, and may just Say Merry Christmas if I still feel this bad tomorrow... I've been limping around the house all day :-((( I really want to run with you guys!! And even more so to be able to do a sport without my body breaking down!

Re: Eve of Christmas Eve Run

oh no, and i feel bad for teasing eire.

I guess the cycling insoles didn't do the trick.

and lets fix a date for some xcountry skiing in the N.Year to cheer ourselves up (assumming I can fit my ski's in the miniscule replacement car I'm due to get after some **** drove into the side of me this morning).

The problem is due to cycling, but not from lack of glutes workout. When cycling you never get your knee into full extension, and since the VM only really comes into action in about the last 15deg of extension it can start to atrophy quite quickly. Especially if a lot of riding is MTB with the saddle a little lower then on a road bike. This is compounded by the fact that I have recently changed my shoes to ones that make me run "biomechanicaly" more correctly, but my body is not adapted to it. Its going to take time to get sorted properly, and I need to do some more strengthening work for VM but it will sort itself out. Its just annpoying at the moment when I am out running and the knee starts to ache a little.

EDIT:
Sorry to hear about the car!

Re: Eve of Christmas Eve Run

I'm really disappointed I missed out. I think I should stop creating events, I've never showed up to my own event! I hope I can figure out what's up soon or I'm gonna go stir crazy.

Have a great Christmas you guys, and New Years too!!

I'll still be in the US for the first Wednesday of Jan but back for the second and hopefully ready for action by then!!
