I think we will go at a relaxed pace and definitely a break in Rapperswil is a good idea. No worries about the pace, I am terribly out of shape after a winter inactivity and will be happy to make it around the lake at any pace.

You should always go clockwise (towards Meilen first from Zurich) as you don't have to worry about traffic turning into you from the side roads or in front of you from Seestrasse. This is my dodgy advice for the day.

Guys, you might remember our earlier conversation in the thread "biking on 1 Mar". Well, I actually checked out Salsa's bike today. It felt something like not even half of my current bike's weight
I will be on his racing cycle for this ride; will be a debut for me on a racing bike. I am setting an audacious target of 2 hours for this ride... let's see how it goes Just writing it down so that I have some motivation to push harder. and will post my time here.
Cheers!

good luck with that....if you can get mblume to show up and stay on his wheel you might have a great shot at the 2 hour mark.

Hey guys,
I just moved to Basel and would love to join you tomorrow, however, I dont have a bike, a helmet and my average speed is probably around 12km/h. Can I still come? I was thinking of hiring/borrowing a bike?

You can try hiring a bike from Hautbahnhof "Rent-a-bike" for half day, around 20-25 fr, comes with a helmet and pick-up/return is easy. No other store suits you becos of the weekend.
Don't worry about speed (look who's saying that ). I might have some office colleagues joining in as guests, and they will be in the 20 kph band and on regular city bikes. We anyway regroup at Rapperswil.
And don't underestimate the 12 kph thing. It is tougher to do Lake Zurich at 12 kph, than it is to do at 20 kph.
I hope you do join.

Looks like we are up against wind tommorrow as well. 18 kph is quite gusty. This Wednesday when I did this route the forecast said 14 kph, and it felt bad enough.
No, am not worried about timing per se, but surely want to discuss about it once we are back, to understand its impacts. http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...ekday=Saturday |

It will be quite cold at 6 degrees and with a breeze. I'll most likely be wearing winter gear.

It's short notice for me - I'll say maybe, so as not to make false promises... It would be my first "internet meetup", which sounds quite exciting and I've long wanted to ride around Lake Zurich. Looking forward to meeting you all!
BTW, I'm no racer, not too slow either, it's just that my bike is crap... |

Err 2 hours? I know how it will go. You'll blame Salsa's bike. | Quote: | | | | | Hey guys,

You can chose between a city bike with average sized gears and a road bike with a very small frame crack that makes saddle readjustment necessary about once per lake lap but else it is fine. Send me a private message until midday if you're interested.

Bump - The weather is nice but it's cold so protect your heads against wind and impact
See you soon! |

Hi Guys,
A last minute post just in case some of you see: I am all geared up in sexy outfit/race bike (complete set is second hand, but just between you and me ) ...only thing missing is a goggles.
Anyone wants to lend/give away/sell your old goggles? Needs to protect from wind that's all...no UV protection/shades necessary. Ultra-low budget if you sell. And while dressing up with all this I forgot to carry my camera...Pl get your if you see this post ( I can carry if for you during the ride if that's a bother).
Thanx
CU
