| | | Re: Zug Summer BBQ Extravaganza | Quote: | | | | | Hello a Newbie here,
so this looks very civilised, getting a tad muddled by all the threads though. When is the best time to come for BBQ on Saturday or is it a "rolling affair" starting at midday? And , and (one more question if I may) are you easy to spot? A subtle EF flag, loud guitar music what will be the secret sign?
I know all daft questions so apologies but I'm still wet behind the ears getting used to EF events so will ask anyway ....
thank you and I hope to come buy with some provisions to get cremated on a BBQ tomorrow afternoon.. | | | | |
I'm not sure about civilised...
I guess you could say it's a rolling affair, come along whenever you're ready. It'd be nice to meet you in the daylight, though. As for recognising us, see the link posted on the previous page for directions. You'll have no trouble knowing who we are, as everyone's incredibly beautiful and radiates happy-beams for all to see. Whistle "Oops, I did it again..." and we'll recognise you're one of us, or just walk up to a group of chatty foreigners and ask "Hello, are you from the English Foru..."
TerryHall is notorious for his guitar skillz, so that should be a clue. He'll be the one tied to the tree.
(Joke, Terry... )

well I'm blond too (sadly there's probably a joke in there somewhere) as for whistling or even looking like Britney, sorry nothing like her.
Shall come by with some provisions and will look out for Dick Cheney and his Ginger friend, how can I go wrong!

Just a reminder that this event is for the BBQ - some people who are attending the BBQ will also be sticking around after for a bit of camping, just for the novelty - but the main idea was, and still is, to just have a load of people come along and have a pleasant day down by the lake
See you all there tomorrow...!

It rained a lot here in Zug today (sun coming out just before the evening), so the ground might be a tad wet come morning. Bringing something plastic or waterproof to place under your blankets might be a good idea.
Also, the Zuger Seefest will be happening (URL site is in German):

If the weather stays decent, look forward to some nice evening fireworks!

In all seriousness folks, some hardy souls will be there regardless of the weather tomorrow, so if you still fancy it please head along and look for the bedraggled ginger bloke holding a soggy chicken leg.

To all those who never made it, where were you? Weather was favouralble, food was excellent, drinks were nice, company was jolly good indeed - you all missed a great day.
Hope to see you all next time!

I was there @ 10:30am but it was full on raining. I wonder if the fire that my hubby started was still lit? Sorry we didnt stick around- after a half hour we were soaking wet- not so ideal with kids- and went home and grilled on the balcony.

Were there any fireworks? Was in Zug from 10.10pm till 11.15pm but didn't see any fireworks. Heard a couple of firecrackers, that's all.

Well done Terry!
A nice way to chill away a Saturday...
To those not attending, the rain stopped around 12:30, weather was quite nice the rest of the day, sunset was lovely, grill hot, frissbee tourney well attended! entertainement and music provided free of charge! dinner was followed with coffee, gourmet chocolate and Cuban cigars! And then they hit the club until 4 AM it appears.....

Many thanks Terry for a good day down by the lake. The morning drizzle soon turned to drier and more clement weather - thankfully - and it was a pleasure to meet new faces and old. I'd forgotten how much fun a weighted plastic disc can be to play with. WhamO!
The camping was particularly pleasant due to the nature zone; not a sound except the birdsong, the distant chatter of kids playing and coffee on the Primus. Perfect. I slept like a log, dreaming of Petrograd and aliens with pink feet.
Thanks to all who attended. The star / space hardware gazing was magical. The unnecessary midnight feast particularly tasty, even if I say so myself...
Looking forward to the next one!

Thanks Terry, we had a great time, and will take some very special memories back home.
As Uncle Max mentioned, the weather fined up by lunchtime and after managing to resurrect the sad little fire lit earlier, and building a grill that any seasoned barbecuer would be proud of, a good time was had by all.
A special thanks to all the buff guys and gals for showing us what to do with a frisbee. And to the chef extraordinaire for the delectable barbecue delicacies and the midnight feast.
