Ashley - thanks for organising again!

Is this the two-bars-in-one-bar with interesting decor of which some of us will have memories (or in some cases, flashbacks) from the pub treasure hunt?

That is the one !! Went back for a "re-visit" with Grahame during our recce on Thurs. Although not an "in" Bar, its pretty friendly, quiet and locals oriented. And I thought why not give it a go.

Ther DJ/old guy they have there is pretty funny too. He was ripping up those turntables on Thurs

Hey Ashley - I tried to RSVP but it wouldn't let me because the system thought your event was actually running now. You'd set the start time to 08:00 instead of 20:00, so I edited it. I'm just letting you know because when I corrected the time it deleted all of the existing rsvp entries for the event. There were about 12+2 who said yes and 2 maybe.

For one reason or another, I didn't get away from the office till nearly nine and it was half nine before I got there.

A loud band in progress who didn't sound too bad, but no sign of any group there. I guessed the noise would have encouraged it to move on...but to where?

Not only that but i ordered a large beer as soon as I got in there thinking at least there was some music to listen to, but they stopped playing and went on their break.

That was it for me. I finished my beer and decided to pop into the Nelson to watch the cricket...but all that was being shown was the poor Bangladeshis getting soundly thrashed.

and so, mindful of the fact i go back home tomorrow (usually its fridays I travel back) I trudged my weary way home...

Ah well, there's always the next time ...

Indeed it was a large turnout of old and new forumers. Good to see sauch a crowd, and meet so many people. Maybe time to move on to weekly drinks !!

Not sure where Tim went to ? no band at our venue, just us and a few poor Swiss who are used to having the bar to themselves

Because of the delay in rushing out of the office, I missed that all important last name check, but had in my head that it was a short name beginning with C. And I knew there was a bar with such a name between the Oliver Twist Pub (which I keep referring to as the Nelson fro some reason!) and the place where I sometimes play pool with my work colleague. Not the first time my quick assumptions have ended up all wrong....

Just to clarify that I really am that unorganised, I got to the airport (where I work) after a tram, train and train trip only to find out as I was getting off the train that while I had put all the necessary wires into the laptop bag ready to fly back tonight, I had forgotten to put the laptop in itself

Sorrry to have missed it Ashley, but thanks for organising it anyway (better you than me!). I'm glad it seems to have been a good night and will definitely definitely make sure I'm there for the next one!
