Dear all
Given that Sunday was such a fun, interesting and even good-weathered evening, why don't we try, again, this coming Sunday?

I have the following suggestions:

- We could either go to the standup comedy that has been so highly recommended by Nanda (starting at 6 p.m., costs CHF 40),
- or to a movie (Inside Man, Water, or something else).
- Another option would be a cruise on the Zurich Lake to Rapperswil (starts at 5.30, costs CHF 11 to CHF 38, depending on class and on Halbtax),
- or we could just go out for dinner, again.

While the standup comedy sounds great, if we want to get to know each other, it is probably easier if we just go out for dinner. Then, everyone can come as they please, and we get a chance to talk. But I wanted to offer several options, still.

So, if you are interested in either option, please let me know. I will post the outcome of the "poll" on Thursday evening (I cannot post on this site during the day). And, as always, I will only come if at least one other person comes, too.

I would expect most people to be single and over thirty, because I am also sending this to my mailing list of singles over thirty, but everyone is welcome.

The comedy is actually in a nice bar so one can get drinks before. It opens at 6pm. Last time there was an apero starting at 6, I don't know if it'll be on again this time. But there's also 1/2 time at the comedy. It finishes about 10pm.

So yeah, I guess there won't be time for a nice dinner.

But maybe time for a quick kebab?

Thanks for your responses. I look forward to seeing you if you can make it. So far, most people are open to everything, but it seems like most want to be able to meet new people, which would speak against an event where we sit and listen four hours. While I have only heard positive things about the comedy (it must be really great), I am curently leaning towards a more communicative evening where we need no tickets in advance and don't have to be on time. Just a very relaxed get-together.

As to the poll: Well, I gotta look into that should there ever be more than the normal 10-20 attendees. Frankly, I dod not know that one could do that.

To add a poll there is an option when you post the thread. Or click on the FAQ link at the top, enter "Poll" into the search box and you'll see the instructions.

I've decided to go anyway, and it looks like there are others going as well. So if you decide to join us there great. I don't plan on doing tickets in advance, was just going to go early to have a drink at the bar, maybe do the apero thing and get the tickets at the door.

Think of it this way - a good laugh always encourages people to be more social afterwards! Let's face it - we don't often get a good laugh in this country :-)

Dear all

And the winner is ... or is the politically correct version these days "And the Britta goes to...?" Don't know. Anyway...

The vote was as follows: Everyone wants to get a chance to meet and talk to new people and, otherwise, are open. There seems to be a great number of people who go to the English comedy, anyway, but that seems to be not ideal for the talkative crowd that seems to be about to gather. The weather report is mediocre, which will make a boat ride less fun. One should really see the mountains when doing that.

So, here is my plan: We will go to the Ristorante Italia, for which I have read some great reviews. It has a little garden, and we can sit outside if the weather is good.

We meet at 7 p.m. The reservation will be under my first name.

Directions: Zeughausstrasse is not too far from the main station. You can either walk from there or take the Tram 3 or 14 to the stop Kaserne. Get off and walk along the river, with the river on your left hand side. You will go past (but not cross) Militärbrücke, and the next street on your right will be Zeughausstrasse, where the retaurant is. There are other ways to get there, too, but this one seems the most straightforward.

If you are new to Zurich and this is too complicated, let me know and we can meet and walk together.

We would have loved to have seen you there, but maybe next time. From what I understand there will be plenty of opportunity to chat before, after and during the breaks.

So if anyone else is joining us at the comedy thing we'd better go and regroup on the comedy thread and leave this thread for Britta and others to talk about the restaurant thing.
