as for stumbling/crawling/oh-god-help-me distance from a train station, I do not know, yet the map indicates a bus route.

the suggestion I made-- I SBB'd it and it says that it is a 19 minute walk from the station.

Hi all,

I've been out of the loop a bit, but wanted to put in my two cts. Maybe a short walk down to Charlies' pub in front of the lake at Place Marche would be OK. It's better in the summer because there's outdoor seating, but why not. Besides Charlie's I'm not sure as Montreux has more nightlife in the Riviera. Any other ideas?

Unfortunately, Wed's are usually booked for me, but if people are still around I'd pop-in much later, about 10:15. I remember the last time I was with the group it was a Thursday... does anyone else have any feedback on day of week?

I've been away for the weekend, and was hoping that by the time I was back we'd have plenty of suggestions of places to choose from. Alas, no, just one! Since that's 20 mins from the train station, I think that we can do better.

Since I've never been drinking in Vevey, if we don't have any other suggestions really soon then we'll have to either decide to move the meeting back to Lausanne or everyone will have to meet at Vevey train station and we'll find something from there (which doesn't seem like a great option to me).

Please help us out, Vevey-ites!

But if the turn-out isn't looking good, and for my self can't be there until 10:15, maybe moving it back to Lausanne isn't a bad idea even if it's just two days away...

We may need to build up the base in the Riviera a bit more... I hope I can help.

Seems like we're going to have a relatively piss-poor turnout on wednesday. I still really like the idea of going to Vevey. Since there are a number of people for which wednesday is a problem, then how about we move the event to thursday? Perhaps more will be able to make it then? Just a thought ...

So, it's decision time!

Based on dannyboy's suggestion, we'll head to "le Charly's" at rue du Lac 45, Vevey, which is about 500 metres or so from the station (map link). The consensus appears to be that Thursday would be best, so lets do that: Thursday 29th (Mar' 07) at 8pm. SamC and I already know of the change, and the only other firm 'yes' we have is Rameen, so I'll send him a PM to let him know about the change.

Heather and I will plan to take the 19:33 train from Lausanne, platform 3, arriving in Vevey, also on platform 3, at 19:51; if anyone wants to meet us on that train to then find the bar together then they are welcome to do so.

damn damn damn.
I wasn't sure if I could come along today.. and then in the end I was stuck in Lausanne waiting for a train to Martigny and decided that I probably kill time in Vevey.. and armed only with a vague recollection of the name of the bar and that it was opposite and kinda close to the station.. I didn't manage to find it.. gah!
Oh well, I got well acquainted with the local Mcdonalds and a curry chicken burger, which was new to me. Also, I checked out the bar right by the train station called Cafe de V.e . It was really nice inside.. big with plenty of room for a large group of ..... (please fill in the blank)... and the dj was playing nice music.

Anyway, hope you guys had a nice time..

I was holding off on saying whether I'd turn up or not - this being out of Lausanne meant I had to be a bit more cautious about promises, since it necessary involves more time than simply Metro-ing into town would. As it turns out I had to do laundry at the hostel through the day today, meaning I didn't get back into work until about 8pm, so didn't finish until 10:30, and I think that would have been a bit too late.

Hope there was a good turnout in the end. See you all next time if in Lausanne. If not then, well, I will try!

Sorry that you couldn't find us, Hayley. The turnout wasn't as good as previous times, but a good time was had by all I think. We'll be back in Lausanne in 2 weeks time for all of those who missed this one.
