For all the diehards considering both, the bar usually has a small screen showing *important* sports events. Usually this means everyone ignores the match until Extra Time, at which point the guys pretend to be interested in the result and the ladies get to powder their noses.

Looking forward to meeting old and new faces. Remember, everyone is welcome and it's non-commercial, so pop in and end up saying to yourself at midnight "I only came in for a pint" etc.

I popped by the Talacker last night and am pleased to report they are now doing an evening menu until 21.00, which caters for those with an appetite after work.

Especially recommended are the Apèro Teller (lots of cheese, San Daniele ham, olives, bread etc) and - yummier still - meatballs. Mmmmm, meatballs

This should, in principle, slow the effects of the beer on my conversational ability (*should* being a nebulous term) although by the time we'd finished the Sake and Cuba Libres yesterday evening, it was anyone's guess what was discussed...

For some *mysterious* reason there's usually twice the amount of people turing up than ever RSVP, and I expect some will also turn into three-minute hooligans around 22.45. Hopefully the euphoria will result in a few extra pitchers being passed around ...

Was it all men because you turned up late, or left early ?

My husband came home at midnight, and told me he'd met a lovely Polish woman who he'd met a few times at the Talacker... should be I be worried....

Late arrival-ish. A lovely Polish woman? I thought she was Russian (Visa/paypal accepted), but she seemed to be a he or it could have been the other one with the shopping bag, a rose and a confused look on her face. No, you have nothing to worry about.
