Would love to join. What dates are you thinking of?
Are you willing to take on a beginner "with promise"??

:-)

Re: Basel Photoclub

Thanks for the compliment!

I consider myself as a beginner as well, I am only shooting for about 10 months now.
But if you are open on exploring a little bit, like doing a photo tour in a city or a photo hike I am open to joining everyone with a camera

Re: Basel Photoclub

If there is this much interest we can organize a photo tour or something?
I don't live directly in Basel, so maybe someone knows some nice locations?

I want to try some model shooting as well, so when there are more people who want to try this (and who maybe know a model? :P ) it would be nice to combine too!

Not on the forums much and this thread was pretty much dead last I looked a few months ago, so I'm glad there's a bit of interest again. I moved to Basel in October 2012 so am interested in meeting up with a few folks for various photo shoots. I left a fairly active, forum-based photo group in the SE of the UK, so I'm interested in meeting up with folks here now that I live here.

I was looking into photo tours but they are uber expensive for what they offer so was thinking about doing a few day trips to places instead.

I'm mainly into landscape and travel photography but have done a few weddings in the last few years. The model shoot sounds interesting and I wouldn't mind trying some strobist work as well. I bought some ETTL triggers recently but haven't had the chance to test them much yet.

Here are a few shots I've taken since I moved to CH.

Re: Basel Photoclub

Can do the 19th in theory, need to check with the boss first though. Are we looking at day or night photography? Don't know Basel too well to nominate anything other than the usual photo locations along the Rheine so am open to suggestions. Don't have a car so will have to be near bus or tram links.

Re: Basel Photoclub

The weekend of the 19th is good for me too, any suggestions for a subject?
I unfortunately don't have a car either.

EDIT: Oops, I forgot that I am not here that weekend, so unfortunately I can't join.

Re: Basel Photoclub

It looks like there are a fair few of you that are interested in getting together.

Sadly, the person who did a lot of the organising and motivating for the Basel Photoclub passed away 18 months ago, so the club isn't really running at the moment.

Is anybody willing to take ownership of the group and arrange meetings and events? The events were often quite informal get togethers (e.g. meet at Starbucks and wander around town) so don't think you need to be a logistics expert.

Thanks for the update Mirfield, it explains why the thread hasn't been active much since I joined. I can help coordinate events though can't guarantee attending all of them due to family commitments. I've organised a few photo trips for my old, forum based club - one to the Chernobyl nuclear exclusion zone and another to the Farne Islands puffin colony in the UK - so am probably qualified to organise things. I will need a bit of input from the regulars though as I've been in Basel for 3 months and still working my way around.

Re: Basel Photoclub

Ok, been a bit busy lately but now have the time to organise things. Can I get a show of hands as to who would be interested in a meet on Saturday 19th? Can you please indicate if day or evening preferred, and what sort of photography are you interested in doing?

For me, I'm flexible as can do day or night, and the type of photography will depend on time - day I'm happy to do some architecture, nature or urban, night I wouldn't mind trying some strobist or "spark shower" shots. Not sure on locations as I've done the stereotypical ones already. Anyone got any ideas?

In line with earlier meets, this won't be an instructor lead group - just a gaggle of photographers trading skills, gear and jokes. If you're looking for 1:1 tuition, I'm afraid I can't offer it.

For future meet suggestions:
February 18-21 - Basler Fasnacht (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival_of_Basel & http://www.basel.ch/en/kultur/jahres...fasnacht-2.htm)
March 24 - Basel Fotobörsen in Binningen. Not entirely sure what this is but seems to be a market for 2nd hand gear and displays from local photo clubs.

Re: Basel Photoclub

I'd be up for slumming it in Basel for a few hours with some fellow toggers, but Saturday the 19th is probably the only Saturday in the whole damn year that I wouldn't be able to make it

Sorry chaps, somethings come up that means I can't make the 19th now. Is the following weekend (26th) better for people to attend?
