Back in Munich I was a regular at pub quizes in two different Expat bars. I quite liked them and miss them here in Zurich. Not that I would be an ideal candidate to host a quiz but was wondering if someone is interested to start such a weekly event in a fixed pub in Zurich.

People could participate in teams of three with like 3 Franks each and the winning teams get the bounty. We could collaborate with the pub owner who also gets beer drinking clients & advertisement to pool in some prize money.

The real catch would be get a person who prepares the quiz and conducts it every week and then we could it take it from there.

what say you guys?

I organise quizzes occasionally, the next event is a pub treasure hunt (with some quiz skills required) on Jan 12.

The Bubbles pub in Zürich 4 http://www.cafe-bubbles.ch/ has a quiz every Monday at 20:00.

I'm always up for something new and fun.

My pub quizzes normally last 1.5 hours with about 10 different categories of questions, including current affairs, normally some creativity and seasonal topics. I design for a mixed audience, so some CH questions, some for English speakers.

The Bubbles quizzes are formal, quizmaster stands up and reads the questions.

Not in Zürich, but if you jump in the train 25 minutes to Aarau there is a pub across from the train station called the Penny Farthing. There will be a pub quiz there on thursday 26th which normally starts at about 9pm. There is a happy hour for 1 hour before it. Have a look on the website, www.pennyfarthing.ch

thanks for the tip, though i'm not going to be in zurich (ch generally) until june, so if anyone knows of a regular quiz that happens? i'll keep my eye on the one in aarau as well...

I used to do music quizzes for my old company in London, my local pub and the PTA of my kids school in the UK .

I always enjoyed doing them and would be prepared to do one here if there was a suitable and available venue.

My only trouble is that I still think of seventies and eighties music as being just a few years old

The oliver twist (pickwick) in the Niederdorf used to host a regular quiz night, i think they may still do so.

I used to do the quizzes at the Twist, and they were always a blast. I have done it a few times at Bubbles as well. This thing is once a week is so time consuming to come up oneself with a quiz. Swannie (at Twist) I am sure would offer his pub for the event. I could propose doing it once a month on a regular basis, or maybe every other week...Its fun when you get a regular crowd as then you can get them involved as well. I am up to it again if you think we can rake in a crowd. I usually got about 40 from my own networking, but the more the merrier... Whatcha think?

Bubbles was doing one last year. One of the guests, an American lady was hosting it . She left and after tht no-one kept it up, but from what I´ve heard the owner of Bubbles hasn´t got the time to organise it herself but would probably let someone else take it over.

Hey, that american girl was me!!! the thing was, she wanted to do it every week and that is really too much in my eyes. it is nice to have something regular though. also it is nice to have the same host/ess and then occasionally have "guest" hosts/tess, then it becomes a real cozy pubby (is that a word) feeling.

I am also a keen pub quizzer, but I sadly haven't found any regular haunts to do it here in Zurich. There is one roughly every six months on the forum by Puzzler which is excellent, but isn't regular enough for my liking

My name is Silvan and I work as a journalist.

As I regularly visit Bart's Shamrock Pub in Wollishofen (I live nearby), I'm planning to write an article about pub quizzes. Where does it come from, who participates, what kind of questions are asked etc.
What I need to know now is: Do you know any other places in Zurich that host pub quizzes? It would be useful if I could name some, because if there's only one (Shamrock namely), the article wouldn't be of that much value. As I write for a german-language newspaper, it would also be good if I could name not only English quizzes but also some that are held in German language.

I've heard that the Helsinki Bar near Hardbrücke has one. Anyone can confirm? And McGees Pub in Wiedikon is planning to do one. What about others? Thanks a lot for your help in advance.
