Shortly after the latest Lausanne Karaoke Night, I was contacted by The Laundry Man, who was curious about the events, the turnout, and what could be done to make karaoke better. While our events have always been a blast at Cafe des Artistes, the KJs are inconsistent and the song catalog leaves much to be desired...

So, beginning next Wednesday Anna and I will be hosting a friendlier, funnier karaoke with a regularly updated catalog!

That means I'm yet again calling all shower-crooners, car-radio-singers-along, accomplished yodelers, failed musicians and the like! Come on down to the Loft Club at Place Bel-Air Wednesday 23 September beginning at 22h30.

FULL DISCLOSURE: This is affiliated with Funny Laundry which is a commercial event, however Funny Karaoke can be attended regardless of whether or not you want to go to the comedy night. There will be a 5 chuff cover for karaokeists (and their claqueurs) not attending comedy, from which all proceeds will go towards updating and improving the catalog. I stand to make no money and for me this is only a social event. If the thread gets moved, so be it...

Im wondering how your Karakoe night is working at the Loft. Do you get a big turn-out?

I would like to check it out some time in November!!!

We've had two events so far and both have been successful! There tends to be more people watching than singing but even so we get about two hours of songs. The next will be next Wednesday 04 November. Comedy starts at 20h00 and karaoke at 22h00. Hope to see you there!

How good is the quality of singing?

Huge range, as is typically the case. But those with less musical talent tend to make it up with some comedic value. There tends to be some standouts, but the average quality is that happy middle ground that neither pains you to hear nor discourages you from getting up to make an @ss of your self.

I think I fall in the terrible-but-somehow-entertaining category (at least, that is what I strive for). There were a few performances that were both great singing and very entertaining last time, so it's certainly worth coming along.
