18.10.2009 16:00 to 19:00
*The times shown may change, depending on DST settings
City/Town: Bern
Event Type: Other
Meeting Point: Bubenbergplatz

The next event for the Basel Photoclub will take place in Bern on Sunday, October 18 at 16:00.

We will meet on the Bubenbergplatz next to the Heiliggeist-kirche just across from the main entrance of the Bahnhof. From there we will walk down the main street (Spittelgasse) of the Bern Altstadt to catch some of the major sites in the late afternoon/early evening light returning to the Bahnhof via the Bundeshaus for some evening shots at the end of the outing. Sunset will be at 19:10 that day.

I recommend tripods as there will certainly be the opportunity for low light or HDR shots.

Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Re: Basel Photoclub - Bern Photo Walk

Thanks for organizing M.
I'm happy it is so late, more changes that I will not be too late I could be tops 1/2 - 1 hour late, but then I'll just call one of you to see were you're at!
Look forward to explore Bern with a local!!

Re: Basel Photoclub - Bern Photo Walk

Hi,

for those travelling by train from Basel I suggest meeting at the SBB at 14:45 on the 18th at Kiosk next on the Passarelle( upstairs).

Basel SBBSo, 18.10.09 ab15:016
IC 977 1.
2.

InterCity, BZ RZ Bern

We can then travel together to Berne.

Have fun

Martin

Sunset will actually be about 18:30 on the 18th. You can get your sunset shots before you get back on the train :-)

My bad, I guess it all depends on which site you check. 19:10 was the time on the only site I checked. Having checked several different ones now, I see that the time varies but is the majority put it at about 18:40-ish.

Think we should make it a half hour earlier?

Re: Basel Photoclub - Bern Photo Walk

Hi Mike,

I think the problem is if you change the time of an event you may find that everyone has to sign up again, which is a pain. Maybe we will just have to walk quicker

I am looking forward to it.

have fun

Re: Basel Photoclub - Bern Photo Walk

Yeah, I was out shooting this evening and the perfect moments of pre-twilight were right around 19:00 but I was able to get good captures until full nightfall which was 19:30 or so. Two weeks will push those numbers up a half hour but we'll still be fine at the set time.

Yes, depending on the cloud cover, you'll still get some nice sunset shots until at least half an hour after the sunset.

What is Märzen?
I'm quite spontaneous , so I would probably be up for most things, and if it is containing beer drinking, the odds go up...

Re: Basel Photoclub - Bern Photo Walk

Mavina, I think you should know that the Heiliggeist kirche isn't located next to Bubenbergplatz.

Could it be that you're refering to Loebecke or the glass roof top covering the big empty space which is next to the Heiliggeist kirche?

Re: Basel Photoclub - Bern Photo Walk

ItchyTriggerFinger, it runs along one side, although I suppose one might normally think of that side as the front, it's still "next to" when qualified with the landmark.

The glass canopy is a good additional landmark though. The Bubenbergplatz extends two blocks from Laupenstrasse (the Starbucks corner) to the beginning of Spitalgasse right in front of the Heiliggeist-kirche. We'll meet near the corner of the church along the edge of the canopy.

Re: Basel Photoclub - Bern Photo Walk

Hi guys,

I'm afraid I didn't make it! I missed the tram to the SBB, the following tram was running a couple of mins late, and finally got there as I guess the train was leaving.
I thought about getting another train or driving, but the tram ride to the station had made me feel a bit, umm... queasy . So i decided to go home again and hope I'm not coming down with whatever's taking out everyone else!

I hope everyone who did make it has fun though, and see you all next time (hopefully).
