Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Yeah, I think those were the dates! I just wonder about June 13 as there's a big concert event going on in Interlaken that weekend...

hmmm

Would be a shame to miss Rammstein, BAK XIII and The Prodigy.

Oh well, we shall see Someone should make a proper event for those dates, I think we don't have them. Same goes for our next poetry evening. Now that I'm back from the US, I'm itching for another meetup.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

I am not sure if I can make it to the movie night, either. The normal lit club, yeah, loved the book. And our regular poetry meet up should work, too. Just the movie night might be a bit maybe, we just started a whole new system of babysitting. Alrite, good to see you back, hope you had a good trip. I wouldn't miss Prodigy, fun.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Well, I've seen Prodigy at last years Paleo, and they were really good From what I was told, there was a period some ten years ago when their performances were short and their attitude snobbish. At Paleo, they were really engaging into their work and the crowd, building up very well.

Rammstein was a bit poor at last years Arena event, but this open air one might be much better if they can go all-out with the fireworks.

BAK Xiii are my friends, and I would love to be there to support them. Then again, that particular concert takes place around noon, so I could be back in the Vaud region for the evening. Seen them many times and each time is fantastic.

However, you need to buy the full 3 day pass at 190chf a pop, and I'd need to find a place to crash in as well (or do the whole hotel thing, which gets expensive).

Choices, choices...

Anyone in the Interlaken region able to host a kind Shinigami for two nights haha

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Right all,

English Forum doesn't like me. Every time I have tried to post on this forum, it's encountered an error and deleted everything I've written. I haven't had the courage to re-write it again. (You know how annoying it is when you write a load and format it all and then it's all deleted? After 3 times I was fuming. Literally.)
SO: I'm copying this and pasting it into another file as I type so as not to lose it. And apologising for the lateness.

Great book club last time, smaller but everyone got a good chance to talk so I guess that's a plus!

The next book is:
The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.

Link to the Book Depository here as per usual:
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780060932138/The-Unbearable-Lightness-of-Being

The next meeting is:
Weds 16th June

Time: 8pm (Comme d'habitude)

Place: Hotel De La Nouvelle Couronne - Golden Lounge

Also: RE: MOVIE NIGHT

Sunday 13th June

Time:
18.30ish

Place: Dawn's place (thanks Dawn!) in Morges. Very easy to reach. Please message me for her address (don't want to plaster it over English Forum).

Soooo, I will set up the events for these and paste them into the normal thread

Hope to see you all there!

That Interlaken Festival sounds good Shini - wish I had the money!
Going to Open Air in St Gallen at the end of the month!

See y'all!

Stephanie

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Seems like I probably won't be going in the Zurich direction after all next thursday/friday

Oh well, guess I won't attend the GreenFieldFestival.ch after all UNLESS something happens last minute. Hope to see Rammstein at another event before the year is over *crosses fingers*

Thanks for making the movie night event entry in the EF calendar, but I think we're missing the wednesday event entry for the 16th?

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

I don't think an event entry was done for Wednesday 16th book club evening...

At least I can't find it anywhere.

My chances of being able to participate on that one are currently 50/50, depends on if I have to be in Zurich or not on that day :\

Hi,

I have read the book already and could lend it to you if you want.

I don't know where (or who) you are I'm afraid but I'm in Préverenges... if that's convenient.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Right all,

I have a predicament about tonight, it's book club and Aupairs night.

A lot of my aupair friends are going back to their countries within the next month and it's one of their last girls' nights so I want to go.
However obviously book club is a priority too.

So I figure I'll try to do both! Pop in on book club and then go to Aupairs night after.

See ya'll later

Steph

Could possibly do next week, babysitter permitting, or any evening the week after (*secretly thinking 'goody, a reprieve to finish the book once I'm done with this trashy Jodi Picoult I'm currently sucked into'*).

It would be the best actually not next wk but after, anytime! This way we have more time to read, swap books, etc.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

OK!

So we are cancelled for tonight! RESCHEDULING.

Can people suggest dates they can do? Unfortunately I cannot do the week after next because my best friend Jen is leaving Switzerland for good and I want to see her as much as possible!
Unless we do Friday 2nd or something...

So let us know.

Thanks!

Stephanie

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Quite glad about the cancellation, what with the weather and not actually having finished the book yet...

I don't have anything regular planned during evenings, so any night of the week is possible for me, subject to the usual 'babysitting/travelling hubby' constraints.

Ta.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Hello and welcome..Uhm, it's a bookclub and it's fun. We meet cca once every 5-6wks, we read a book beforehand and talk about it in a cool bar. They have a great bartender and wine there. We try to pick books that actually offer sumfin for a discussion, but don't really discriminate. We try to discuss in a laid back manner, everybody has enough space to chip in, there is no moderator and not a set routine on how we go about it. People's opinions are valued, unless they are a complete bollox. Naw, I am kidding. Just come over, even if you don't read books, we are nice.

Ok, how is that for a description? Hahaha...I have been grading finals the entire week....ugh.
