Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Is this book club still meeting into the New Year?
If so, could someone send me the details as I would like to give it a shot
Thanks much!

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

I can do Tuesday the 25th, although I'd prefer it it we could start at 7:30 as opposed to 8 pm because I have to get up early the next day...

As for what we are supposed to have read, I think it's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, by Jonathan Safan Foer.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

That day should work for me. I think we may need to do a recap of "Never let you go" as well since not everyone had finished it the last time we met. I read the latest but left it in the US for my husband to read - but I think I can remember it enough to discuss. Hope we all can get together soon!

Hmmm...anyone know of a good English bookstore/library where I could pick one of those up? I haven't read either of them....

Sorry, book is entitled "Never Let Me Go." If you haven't read that one you can use my copy. Just let me know!

In principle any day of the week is no better or worse for me - which just goes to show how dull my life is - but this week I can't do Tues 25th as hubby's got to go and gladhand a load of suppliers over dinner tomorrow.

Could do Wed 26th, as far as I know.

Not that I've read the book in the recent past; the last time was about 5 years ago, and my copy is currently doing the rounds of various friends so I can't even skim it and pretend. But I'm DESPERATE to talk to grown-ups and drink wine.

I can't make tonight or tomorrow night - things have taken a turn for the worse and they want to hospitalise me (again). Hope you all have fun.

Ok, since kodokan is free tmrw, for me it is better as well, let's do it tomorrow. Is 7pm too early for you, folks?

I will contact other people who seemed interested, too. If I have enough time, I'll post an event, too, with meet up info, etc.

You have our thoughts! The end of winter is a hard time...hang in there and get in touch when you are ready to meet. We will post updates on books, the last plan didn't really work, will see how to get more organized. Be strong.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Hi all, just wondering if the last meeting did take place, how it went... and if anyone wanted to have another one any time soon?

Must admit I'm still officially hospitalised (a week to ten days my foot... it's been a month and a half) but I'm hoping if this evening goes well (second night in a row at home), that they'll let me out some time this week.

Would be really good to arrange a meeting at some point - give me an incentive to read something new, and take my mind off things. Also the more of a social life I have, the more ammunition I have against the hospital social worker who wants to put me in a foyer...

So yes, for totally selfish reasons - can we have another meeting?

V

Wednesdays are fine... 23rd would be better for me - one of my friends is so pleased I've 'escaped' from hospital she's having a party for me this week!

What are we supposed to have read?
